Mithy Retires & Becomes Fnatic Head Coach

Mithy is, without a doubt, one of the best and most successful support players that the European region ever fostered. He’s a veteran in every sense of the word and has experience playing in Europe and North America. Mithy has two LEC titles behind his belt, has played with the who’s who of competitive League and is universally beloved and respected by both coaches and players.

His reputation precedes him. He’s a cerebral kind of player, an individual who’s aware of what needs to be done and how. He’s a shotcaller, an in-game leader and one of the biggest minds to ever play the game, judging by what people say about him and what he’s achieved throughout Mithy’s long career.

Mithy’s not exactly the most talented player mechanically speaking, but he more than makes up with his in-game tenacity and shotcalling.

From Player to Coach

After a solid season with Origen, Alfonso “mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez has decided to end his career as a player and do what most expected from him, and that’s becoming a coach. The team he signed for, however, is quite the surprise. According to multiple sources, after he retires Mithy will become Fnatic’s head coach for the 2020 season.

Mithy brings a metric ton to the table and has experience in spades. He knows how it feels to play on the biggest of stages and is aware of the challenges that professional players face daily but also aware of their needs and wants. He is capable of creating the right environment for Fnatic’s players, given that he gets the necessary support from the org.

That aside, one could question whether this is the kind of coach that Fnatic needs. It’s no secret that they’re struggling behind the scenes. Many wonder if their players will respect and listen to a coach that’s just barely older than they are, regardless of Mithy’s many triumphs and vast experience.

Time will tell whether this change propels the team to greatness (or allow them to remain at the top, somewhat). Now, Mithy certainly has big shoes to fill come 2020, but he’s also a veteran in his regard and is sure to bring a lot of unique benefits to Fnatic that YoungBuck couldn’t.
