Misfits Gaming Group Launches $10 Million Esports and Gaming Seed Fund

by in General | Nov, 22nd 2019

There is so much money in esports right now. A fair amount of that is at the highest levels of esports, but what about up-and-coming scenes? What about small businesses and entrepreneurs that want to make their way into esports? Misfits Gaming Group may be able to help with their MSF.IO fund.

It’s Not Just Money

This $10 million esports and gaming incubator and seed fund is a pretty serious chunk of change. That may sound a little confusing, but it’s not. The incubator and seed fund will support companies by investing capital into them and offering experiences, resources and contacts.

It’s not all about the money. Merely having money won’t make you able to be a success in esports. You need time-tested and proven methods of doing business and improving skills. MSF.IO can help support budding esports and gaming companies to help them grow.

Misfits Gaming has a history of success, and they can bring that experience in the industry to help would-be creators and companies find their footing.

In a recent press release, Ben Spoont, CEO and co-founder of Misfits Gaming Group had this to say:

“Although there’s plenty of investment at the highest levels of esports, we believe that entrepreneurs and small businesses in the space often struggle and are overlooked by mainstream opportunities for funding. To grow the industry, it is critical to support these budding entrepreneurs. Esports doesn’t just happen at the highest end. Innovative ideas from smaller companies challenge us all and create tools, services, and structures that help our industry stay fresh and competitive.”

There are so many companies and teams with good ideas and potential star power. I love the idea that they are going to help foster growth in the community. This Misfits Gaming Group fund will be beneficial for the organization as well. Through helping new talent using MSF.IO, Misfits Gaming might see some new ways of doing business themselves.

Maybe they can use it to find more stars for their squads in the future? They might wind up purchasing a team that comes up through their seed system. Who knows?

MSF.IO: Class of 2020

MSF.IO is a global initiative, and as such, they’re seeking applications from everywhere. Those chosen join the inaugural class of 2020, with an optional incubation period in the Misfits’ South Florida Headquarters.

The Misfits Gaming League of Legends European Championship squad, Florida Mayhem Overwatch team and Florida Mutineers Call of Duty are managed there. There is a lot of great skill and power housed there. I’m looking forward to details on what the budding esports squads and gaming developers will learn.

It’s not just for esports team entrepreneurs, either. It could help develop the next great indie game or a new squad for a hot esports game. I don’t know what the future holds, but major esports organizations helping grow up-and-coming talent helps everyone in the long run.
