Mental Health Concerns Cause Ferocitys to Replace Prestinni for Florida Mutineers
The Call of Duty League Home Series Weekend Los Angeles is happening this weekend. Starting tomorrow, eight of the 12 teams that are in the league will begin competing in the fourth major event in the first season of the Call of Duty esports league.
With the event looming closer, teams are getting ready for it with some major changes that aren’t super surprising, but make a lot of sense given the circumstances surrounding some teams. One such team that is making a big change this weekend is Florida Mutineers.
Unlike some of the other teams making major roster changes, this one seems to be a little bit more unexpected and unplanned. Instead of moving around a player because of poor performance or not having synergy, this one seems to be solely decided by the player themselves.
Prestinni Will Not Participate This Weekend
Florida Mutineers announced on its official Twitter account today that one of the starting players Prestinni will not be participating in the upcoming Call of Duty League Home Series Weekend LA event. The wording on this announcement is strange since it doesn’t clear up everything entirely.
The reason for Prestinni not playing in the tournament this weekend is because of “personal reasons” for the player that have been officially approved by the team management. This sudden change for the player is sure to shake up the team a bit this weekend.
In Prestinni’s place, the player that will be replacing him for the event this weekend is Maurice “Ferocitys” Henriquez. Ferocitys will be joining the rest of the remaining starting lineup of Frosty, Havok, Maux, and Skyz that will be competing to raise their spot on the ever-changing leaderboard.
It seems that the personal reasons that caused Prestinni to not participate in this upcoming event is not actually related to the player’s performance thus far in the first season of the league. Just a quick glance at his Twitter account shows that the player might not be doing the best mentally at this time.
Why Prestinni Is Taking a Break
Just this week, the pro player has posted a few times about not doing the best and dealing with some personal issues like “being pushed away” and how he’s “gotta be better. Way better.” This continued until he posted a more clarifying tweet yesterday that showed just deep the issues seem to be.
He noted on his Twitter account that he’s “been going through it lately” and that he’s trying to be himself again. This was further elaborated on earlier today when the Florida Mutineers team posted about the official announcement of Prestinni not playing this weekend.
He shared the tweet on his page and added some additional details. He started out by showing his appreciation for the team for working with him on this and that he is using this time as a much-needed break from the competition.
At the same time, though, he is “excited to be back and competing soon.” Later on, he posted another tweet that added even more details on how he is feeling right now. He noted his excitement to watch his team play tomorrow while also feeling guilty for not being there.
Overall, it looks like this decision was entirely from Prestinni and that he will be returning to the Florida Mutineers at some point. That date has yet to be announced, so we’ll just have to wait for now. In the meantime, Ferocitys will be taking his place for the foreseeable future.
Ferocitys Is a Strong Player
Ferocitys is a former Call of Duty Challengers player who was competing in the semi-pro/amateur league that goes alongside the main esports league. Just yesterday, Ferocitys announced that he would be leaving his Challengers team for mysterious reasons.
It is now clear that decision was made so that he could join Florida Mutineers, instead. This upgrade is a major move for the player who is actually a skilled competitor in his own right. In 2018, he was part of Team Kaliber as they went on to win the Call of Duty World League Stage Two championship title.
This was followed by coming in second place with Team Kaliber at the Call of Duty World League overall championship. This impressive record shows that Ferocitys could be a major benefit to the Mutineers at the upcoming event even if it is on short notice.
After all, the Florida Mutineers are suddenly one of the most exciting teams in the entire league. This is because of their exceptional performance a couple of weeks ago at the Home Series Atlanta event. They were able to get second place in that event, losing to the home team in the process.
On the team’s way to the finals of that event, they were able to actually defeat the Chicago Huntsmen as the first and only team to do so. They ruined the undefeated streak that the juggernaut team had been on, leaving Atlanta FaZe as the only undefeated team at this time.
Tomorrow, March 7, Florida Mutineers will have its first match against FaZe where it will be interesting to see how they fare in this rematch. That same match will be where Ferocitys will make his Mutineers and Call of Duty League debut as one of the new pro players.
Florida Mutineers isn’t the only team that is making some major changes to its roster ahead of the Home Series Weekend LA. The two hosting teams, OpTic and Los Angeles Guerrillas, both are making changes with OpTic Gaming LA shifting player roles and the Los Angeles Guerrillas replacing three of its starting roster with fresh new faces.
