When the Dota 2 animation, DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, released, many were curious as to whether any of the characters from the show would be crossing over into Dota 2 to heed the call of the ancients and join the roster of heroes in battle. The Studio Mir animated series has largely won over Dota 2’s fanbase, and many were excited for season 2, even if none of the new characters shown in the series weren’t slated to be released in the Dota 2 video game. However, it seems as though Marci, one of the cast of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, will be released soon as a playable character.

Meet Marci: Mirana’s Dependable Deputy

During the TI10 broadcast, a special trailer was shown showcasing season 2 of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. Season 2 of the Studio Mir animated series taking place in one of the realms of the Dota 2 universe showed returning characters, Marci, Luna, Mirana, and Davion, the Dragon Knight. The trailer for the dark fantasy series showed action-packed vignettes that promise stellar and gripping battles the South Korean animation studio has become known for as well as a new character in Dota 2 hero Lina, the Slayer.

Near the end of the trailer for season 2 of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, an action packed sequence by Studio Mir was shown that transitioned into a fully CG animated sequence showcasing the in-game model of the newest hero to be added to Dota 2, Marci.

Marci’s inclusion in Dota 2 is sure to delight both core Dota 2 fans and fans of the Dota animated series. For context, the last hero to be added to Dota 2 was Dawnbreaker, who was released back in April of this year. Adding Marci as a new hero in Dota 2 is a touch unprecedented, as hero releases typically happen once a year.

So far, no details have been released as to what Marci’s abilities will be. Valve promises that players will be able to play the new hero Marci when she releases sometime this fall before the end of the year.
