LoL Wild Rift Patch 2.5 Preview — New Champions, Matchmaking Updates, More

by in League of Legends | Oct, 13th 2021

Wild Rift has had no shortage of mind-blowing updates, and the upcoming patch 2.5 will be no different in that regard! The fact that Riot is working around the clock to deliver an experience unlike any other should come as no surprise: we’re talking about one of the most popular mobile games in the world, and it’s only going to get bigger and bigger as time goes on.

And, as always, frequent updates not only make the game better but also keep the player base as engaged as possible. Fortunately, Riot knows this business all too well and has quite a lot in store for Wild Rift, with patch 2.5 bringing more content than you can shake a stick at!

There’s a lot of ground to cover, so let’s begin!

Wild Rift Patch 2.5 — Updates Galore

  • Veigar, the Tiny Master of Evil, will join the game in just a couple of days! Caitlyn and Jayce will come afterward and are expected to release sometime in November.
  • Wild Rift patch 2.5 brings with it a second Rift Herald that’ll spawn later in the game to draw more attention to the Baron side of the map.
  • There are three key goals that Riot wants to accomplish with this: (1) to give players an objective they can take before Baron; (2) encourage more teamfights that aren’t focused solely around Dragon; (3) increase the carry potential of individual players seeing how the Rift Herald can be taken solo.
  • From now on, Rift Herald will deal a fair bit more damage to turrets but also take more damage once it headbutts them.
  • Baron’s initial spawn time has been pushed to accommodate for the second Rift Herald.
  • Non-buff camps will now respawn at a slower pace but offer more gold. This should, hopefully, make jungling feel a bit less hectic.
  • Guilds are coming to Wild Rift! They’ll allow you to play with friends, create a thriving mini-community, and even earn exclusive in-game rewards as well! We’re talking about a much more fleshed-out system than one would expect, given Wild Rift’s mobile nature. But leave it to Riot to exceed all expectations and create a feature that puts even full-fledged desktop MOBAs to shame! For a more thorough look at Guilds and all that they’ll entail, make sure to give the following video a look!
  • With ARAM becoming a permanent game mode in Wild Rift, Riot plans to support it in many ways in the future. Scryer’s Blooms will soon appear in the Howling Abyss, and you can expect similar additions and balance changes over the coming months as well!
  • Going forward, each patch will bring with it a new Wild Pass. The forthcoming one will allow players to unlock Hexplorer Tristana. Additionally, Riot will update how rewards are displayed, resulting in players having an easier time when it comes to discerning which Pass is free and which isn’t. More rewards will also be added to the Free Pass track.
  • Last but certainly not least, there are a couple of hugely important matchmaking updates. Starting with Wild Rift patch 2.5, your matchmaking rating will be the determining factor when it comes to whom you’re paired up with and against, rather than your rank. This should make matches a lot fairer and, by proxy, more enjoyable.
  • Those who are partial to streaming will now be able to share their live gameplay to Twitch with just a single press of a button!
  • As always, what would a new patch be without a slew of jaw-dropping skins? Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa, Zephyr Dragon Master Yi, Eternal Dragon Brand, Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol, and Fae Dragon Ashe will all land in Wild Rift later this month alongside the new Dragonmancer event, so prepare your wallets! Divine Sword Irelia, Valiant Sword Riven, Splendid Staff Nami, Bewitching Janna, Underworld Wukong, Solar Eclipse Leona, Headhunter Caitlyn, and Superb Villain Veigar will also be thrown into the mix, just for good measure!
  • An Arcane-themed event will be hitting live servers sometime in November, too, which means there’s more to be excited about than “just” Riot’s oh-so-promising animated series!

All in all, patch 2.5 is bound to change the game in huge, sweeping ways, and we can’t wait to see how it’ll impact Wild Rift going forward!
