Lenovo Legion Pad Gaming Tablet Shows Up on Weibo, Full Reveal Imminent

by in Technology | Dec, 7th 2021

The Legion Pad gaming tablet from Lenovo was just revealed and, frankly, it looks mighty promising! And even though this first glimpse is by no means comprehensive, it is nonetheless sufficient to get our blood pumping! So, if you’re super into Android and are looking for a bigger canvas to satisfy your mobile gaming/content consumption needs, you definitely have something to look forward to!

So, what makes the Lenovo Legion Pad so special? Well, it’s quite simple: it’ll be the smallest and yet most powerful Android tablet on the market.

Far From Gargantuan

With an 8” screen, the Legion Pad will directly compete with Apple’s refreshed iPad Mini and that, in short, is absolutely stellar news for those we’ve been clamoring for a smaller, pocketable Android tablet. The 11”—12.9” range is great for web browsing, Netflix, YouTube, and general media consumption, but it’s totally unwieldy for gaming.

But it’s not just its size that’s so alluring, but its internal as well: the Lenovo Legion Pad will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 which should, in turn, result in spectacular gaming performance! This particular SoC tends to run quite hot, but that shouldn’t be an issue — cooling it inside a tablet is by no means as challenging as it is in a phone.

Interestingly enough, the Legion Pad has a plastic back which means there’s a very good chance it’ll be geared towards the mid-range segment of the market. In other words: Lenovo is prioritizing performance over best-in-class build quality and, frankly, we’re glad for that being the case — especially if it results in a palatable MSRP! This tablet will suffice for all your daily needs and workloads, but if you don’t plan on gaming for hours on end then there are definitely better options out there. We can also surmise that an IPS panel will be used, probably with a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s just a handful of mobile games out there that can harness such a fast display, but releasing a gaming tablet in 2022 with a 60Hz panel simply doesn’t make sense.

The Lenovo Legion Pad will first go on sale in China before getting a global release soon afterward. Details are still scarce, but we’re bound to get an official, in-depth reveal in just a few weeks — maybe even around CES 2022!
