Legends of Runeterra Reveals Taric as Upcoming Champion
The next expansion for Legends of Runeterra is going to be Call of the Mountain, and what better reveal for it than Taric? After all, he climbed Mount Targon; you did not. It sounds like we’re going to get a new region in Targon, and boy is Taric a doozy! He’s going to be must-use support with all of his mighty gem power. What does Taric offer?
Fabulous Support Power
Full Disclosure: This writer is a little biased, being a Taric main since Season 2. Yes, he agrees that it’s probably not healthy. Taric in Legends in Runeterra is a 4-cost Champion, with 2/4 and [Support]. When he sees you support or target allies with spells seven times, he’ll level up. On top of the Support ability, you copy the last spell you cast on only him this round onto that allied ally.
You buff him and the ally. It’s very rewarding to play him in a deck stacked with buffs. It sounds like Targon/Ionia or Targon/Demacia is going to be truly brutal. We should also discuss what he does when he levels up. Now, he’s a ⅗ (still for 4 Mana). He still has [Support], but it’s way better. Taric and his supporting ally can’t damage or die this round. He still copies the last spell you cast on only him that round onto the ally.
Consider this: Taric, Shen, Fiora. We’re going to pair level-up Fiora and Taric, and cackle as the other player can’t stop them. On top of that, we’re going to drop Shields and buffs on them. Then you use Taric’s new spell that comes in the expansion, Blessing of Targon, to give him +3/+3. That means that ally will also get +3/+3! There’s a lot of combo and tempo potential for Taric. We have a feeling he’s going to be wildly overpowered. Might in Noxus would give him +3 and [Overwhelm], which would make it easier for him to batter down other players.
Taric/Targon is going to be good in every faction. When we have more cards revealed, you can count on us talking about some of these new deck possibilities and what Taric can do. We have a feeling he’s going to see some kind of nerf (probably cost).
