All We Know About the Latest League of Legends Champion Sett
Just a month has passed since Senna’s release, and yet we already have Aphelios on the PBE. But Riot didn’t stop there, as they’re already teasing their upcoming League of Legends champion Sett — a brawling juggernaut from the Ionian underground!
It’s Been a Busy Year for Riot
2019 was the year Riot Games surprised everyone. The company went above and beyond to entertain the millions of League of Legends players scattered across the globe. This was the year of many layered patches, exciting reworks, fascinating new heroes, a stacked World Championship, Teamfight Tactics, and a plethora of different announcements.
All of these updates and releases made 2019 the best and most exciting year in League of Legends history. Even though a full decade has passed since its release, League has never been this entertaining. But Riot isn’t stopping there, as we already have a couple of interesting tidbits regarding their upcoming League of Legends champion Sett.
Now, there’s a lot to dissect, but there aren’t any concrete details for us to actually go over. Instead, we have small nuances and leaks which we can use to form an idea of what we can expect going forward.
Because of Riot’s most recent Champion Roadmap, we know that Sett is an underground prizefighter.
They said that a lot of time has passed since the release of a straightforward, “accessible” juggernaut like Darius. So naturally, they felt it was time for yet another powerhouse with a somewhat simple learning curve. This means that Riot is basically looking to release a “one-dimensional” champion after releasing their most complex one yet — Aphelios.
Sett will supposedly “thrive in the center of a brawl” and will be able to “release all that stored aggression” back towards his enemies. By the sound of it, he’ll be a tough nut to crack and will thrive in the heat of battle. He’ll probably be a force of nature in close combat, but will not have any built-in escape or gap closer (just to balance things out). He could also have a shield of sorts which could help him endure incoming damage and then release it back towards his aggressors. The more damage he takes, the higher his damage output will be.
League of Legends Champion Sett Ability Kit
A couple of players also received emails with additional Sett details, in the form of ability “calling cards.” We have four cards which evens out a full ability kit.
All cards are accompanied with interesting illustrations. All four of them showcase different heroes getting punched or beat up. The ability names are as follows:
Q: “Fist, Meet Face”
W: “Catch These Hands”
E: “Bust ‘Em Up”
R: “Let’s Give ‘Em a Show”
We can only theorize about what each ability does, but these illustrations can only get us so far. One thing is for certain however: the illustration for his E shows two champion heads colliding, which is exactly what Riot mentioned in their recent roadmap. This means Sett will probably have an ability that functions a lot like Zac’s Q “Stretching Strikes.” The illustration for his ultimate also looks like a potential energy/aggression release that was mentioned above, but it’s still too early to know for certain.
Senna was released mid-November. Aphelios was just shipped with patch 9.24, and Sett is rumored to be released mid-January. That’s three entirely new champions in just as many months.
Talk about a release schedule…
If you’re a casual player, these are exciting times. If you’re a professional, you’re either gleaming with joy or are horrified for the possible impact these champions could have on the upcoming competitive meta. Be that as it may, we’re bound to be entertained beyond measure come 2020.
With Aphelios already seeing the light of day, we can expect a lot more information about the upcoming League of Legends champion Sett over the coming weeks. Finally, it’s refreshing to see a relatively “simple” champion without any overly complex abilities or elaborate combinations. This means Sett probably won’t be as alluring as some of Riot’s recent releases, but who knows — maybe that simple nature will attract a following of its own.
