KuroKy and ex-Team Liquid Announce New Team
Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi is as famous as a Dota 2 player as they come. After the former Team Liquid line-up announced their departure after finishing second at the most recent TI9, many wondered where this successful, veteran-filled squad would end up next. The wait is over, as KuroKy and his allies announced their next move: Nigma.

New Dota 2 Team Looking to Dominate
Nigma is an independent, player-led team and the former TI7 champions found it. They’re once again looking to dominate in the Dota 2 competitive world and seeing how they retained all their former members. You can expect this roster to attain success sooner rather than later.
Their sights are set on the DreamLeague Season 13 Major qualifiers in Leipzig, Germany. The tournament itself will begin on January 18 and will last for eight days. Much like with the Dota 2 Chengdu Major that just concluded, there’s $1 million on the line along with a whopping 15,000 Dota Pro Circuit points.
Nigma will need to start racking up wins (and securing DPC points) if they want to qualify for the Dota 2 tournament The International next year. While we haven’t seen them in action, it’s fair to assume they’re going to be one of the most capable and successful teams around. They still have the right tools which are necessary to qualify for TI10 and leave a mark.
Power Players on Nigma
Here’s the current Nigma Dota 2 line-up:
- Captain & Support: Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi
- Carry: Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi
- Mid Lane: Omar “w33” Aliwi
- Offlane: Ivan “MinD_ControL” Borislavov Ivanov
- Support: Maroun “Gh” Merhej
This is a stacked roster with a long list of accomplishments, including a 2nd place finish at The International 2019, 2nd place at the EPICENTER Major 2019, 2nd place at the MDL Paris Major 2019, 1st place at the MDL Macau 2019, and many more.
It’s unclear whether they’ll compete in the European region or if they’ll move somewhere else. Regardless, we’ll learn more soon. If they qualify for the DreamLeague Major (and it’s fair to assume that they will), it’ll be exciting to see how they stack up against other Dota 2 competitive giants.
Valve just released a brand-new, highly impactful patch. We might see a change in the overall Dota 2 status quo, as well.
