Key Battlefield 2042 Medic Changes Are Coming Soon

by in General | Nov, 16th 2021

Battlefield 2042 is already available for some users to try out early, while the full game will launch for everyone in the very near future. Though the game is not fully released just yet, there are already some Battlefield 2042 medic changes that have been announced for the near future.

Battlefield 2042 Medic Changes Desired by the Community

In the coming weeks, there are some Battlefield 2042 medic changes that should be arriving in the game that will address many of the problems that some players are having with the game right now. This was noted in a recent Reddit thread that went over their issues with the game.

The Reddit user jamesswazz posted a thread that went quite viral on the Battlefield 2042 subreddit page, specifically, for their thread about the Battlefield 2042 medic changes that need to happen soon. They titled the thread about how revives are essentially useless in the game at this point.

This is not because the revives do not work (they do work just fine), but the problem is that most players will just skip the revive feature and respawn somewhere else on the map rather than take the time to wait for a medic to find them downed nearby and then revive them back to health.

The gist of the title is that the player would like to see this issue directly addressed and then put into the game as soon as possible. A fix for the problems in the community of why they do not wait for revives is one of the several prominent issues that are in Battlefield 2042 currently.

Proposed Solution Is Highlighting Medics

The Reddit user broke down this issue and why it is such an annoying factor in the game currently by noting that they have played the medic class in past Battlefield titles and love spending their time running around in the maps, mainly focusing on reviving everyone that is downed.

However, what the player noted is that the chance to revive other players is basically missing from the game entirely since players have no incentive to wait around to be revived. The reason behind this is the fact that there is no medic indicator to let players know that there is a medic nearby.

DICE is looking to add this indicator in an upcoming patch

The proposed solution to this issue would be to let downed players see the nearby medics through a highlighting system of some sort. This would let them know the medics that are close by and they can clearly see which one, if any of them, are currently headed their way to save their life.

The user noted that adding this feature into the game would fundamentally change everything since it would encourage players to actually stay in that area, wait for a revive, and continue fighting. This would mean fewer deaths for everyone, a second chance to defend or capture that objective or whatever they were initially doing, and save time on respawn.

Not to mention, this would then offer medics the chance to earn more points for their actions in battle since they would actually be able to put their defibrillators to good use. They went on to note that even with up to 128 players in a match, there are basically no opportunities for a medic to revive someone.

Other Changes the Community Wants

Furthermore, there are some other Battlefield 2042 medic changes that the user would like to see. They edited the post later on and added the thought that the revive animation is so obscure, that it is actually hard to tell when someone is reviving them, unlike in past games.

In addition, they would like to see a change on the medic side to allow them to ping their teammate to know that they are headed their way to revive them right now, like in past Battlefield games. They reference Battlefield V as the game that had the best revive mechanics and how those points should be added into the game.

The Reddit thread went viral on the 2042 page, garnering 98% upvotes and almost 500 comments at the time of writing this. Fortunately, the rant from the player and overall suggestions for Battlefield 2042 medic changes was not in vain, either, as it ended up gaining the attention of DICE itself.

These Changes Are Officially Coming Soon

A response came from the gameplay designer at DICE who goes by the Reddit username as Drunkkz3. The developer simply replied, stating that the feature is being looked at right now for being added back into Battlefield in an upcoming update for 2042.

The reply does not specifically confirm which feature is coming back to the series in this upcoming update, but we can presume that it will be the main one that the user talked about: highlight medics for the downed players so that they know if they are getting revived or not.

Unfortunately, it does not reveal if the other suggested changes are coming to the game or not, so, thankfully, one player did comment for clarification. One user inquired about the ping feature for medics to let players know that they are on the way to revive them.

Thankfully, the gameplay designer responded to this comment, too, noting that it is being looked into for being added back into the game as well. This is great news as it indicates that some great Battlefield 2042 medic changes are likely to be coming to the game in the very near future.

With the full release date for the game arriving on November 19, 2021, we know that the changes will be arriving sometime after then. It is uncertain how long we will have to wait, but, hopefully, it is a change that comes before the end of the year in order to fix these problems fast.
