Karmine Corp Best BT Excel to Become EU Masters Spring Champions!
Karmine Corp are your EU Masters Spring champions! They’ve managed to write a page in the history books by toppling a surprisingly feisty BT Excel in 3-1 fashion. And, needless to say, it was an absolute spectacle from start to finish!
If you’re scratching your head right now — bewildered by the fact that we’re talking about EU Masters like it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread — know that you’re not in the minority. At its very core, the EU Masters is nothing more than a proving ground for the best B-tier teams in Europe. It gives them a chance to show off their talents and, potentially, get signed by an LEC team. It is a well-functioning system for developing young League of Legends talent and, based on empirical evidence, it’s been working wonders.
So how in the heck did such a tournament draw nearly 400k viewers?
Well, there’s no one, definitive answer, but rather a slew of smaller, interconnected ones that have resulted in an event that was — by all metrics — historic in nature.
The Future Is Bright… To Say the Least
If you’re a fan of European League of Legends, then you have every reason to celebrate. The EU Masters has basically transcended its original “purpose” and has become a bona fide “world championship.” And, well, the viewership numbers tell the same tale as well.
Now, let’s talk numbers first. A big reason why viewership exploded to such a staggering degree is because Karmine Corp is run by Kamel “Kameto” Kebir, a hugely popular Twitch streamer and influencer from France. In a way, this year’s EU Masters was fairly similar to the first Tyler1 Championship Series from 2017 — the one that broke a slew of records and basically allowed Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp to mend his relationship with Riot.
Still, that’s only one half of the equation. EU Masters viewership has been rising year-over-year; we’re talking about an awe-inspiring phenomenon, even without Karmine Corp competing. This fascinating tournament took on a life of its own and has been vastly more popular than most major regions — and it has the numbers to prove it, too! In fact, Karmine Corp winning EU Masters Spring is perhaps less staggering than the fashion in which it all went down, and the sheer number of people who tuned in to see it all unfold.
And, well, when you have the president of France congratulating you on your win, you know you’re doing something right. EU Masters is now officially a big deal, and is a testament to just how entertaining these “little leagues” can be when they’re given the right support and room to grow. Sublime stuff!
