Jojopyun and Vulcan to Start for Evil Geniuses Over Jiizuke and IgNar
Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun and Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme will be joining Evil Geniuses for the 2022 competitive season! Exciting stuff, no doubt, but also a move that carries a bit of risk. Vulcan is obviously as seasoned a player as they come, but picking Jojopyun — EG’s Academy mid laner — over someone like Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen is a call that might backfire spectacularly.
EG’s coaching staff will either be hailed for its foresight, or flamed beyond measure depending on how this one pans out. Either way, no one will be left indifferent!
A Monster in Academy
Forged from the depths of Evil, delivered to the mid lane for battle.

We can't wait to dominate the #LCS with you, @jojopyunlol. pic.twitter.com/XSI5LD44Bm
Jojo, to his credit, has wrecked house in Academy and is undoubtedly one of the most promising young players in recent history. He can play both supportive, utility picks but also go on Rasmus “Caps” Winther-like rampages and hard-carry like his life depends on it. He has that “killer instinct” that most seasoned mid lane veterans seem to lose over time.
Still, he’s a very young player with absolutely no LCS experience and that might be a problem. No one’s doubting EG’s approach, but some things are out of their control — it’ll all boil down to how well Jojo can adapt and whether he has enough mental fortitude to withstand the pressure that comes with playing on the LCS stage.
We have our doubts, much like the vast majority of the community, but after seeing what Evil Geniuses were able to accomplish with Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki, we’re more than willing to give them our full benefit of the doubt on this one. They know what they’re doing, that’s for sure.
With Jeong “Impact” Eon-yeong, Kacper “Inspired” Słoma, Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki, and Vulcan, Evil Geniuses will have all the right tools to not only leave a mark but also challenge for the LCS throne. Whether they’ll succeed still remains to be seen, but this line-up is not to be trifled with, that’s for sure.
And if Jojopyun ends up delivering, Evil Geniuses will no doubt climb the ranks in record time. It’s still hard to assess and predict what their playstyle is going to be, but at least we won’t have to wait long to find out!
