Is Warzone’s Nail Gun OP? The Community Thinks So

by in Call of Duty | Jun, 22nd 2021

Can the Warzone Nail Gun, which has no attachments possibly be OP? Considering it can down a player in four hits and is an incredibly mobile weapon: Yes, absolutely yes! It seems like it’s a troll or gimmick weapon, just something slapped into the game for fun, but it’s an absolute terror. After a few days of being in the game, fans want the Call of Duty Warzone Nail Gun to get immediate nerfs. Sure, the MG 82 is going to be nerfed, but what about the Nail Gun? So far, nothing, but we’ll just have to see. What do the fans say?

As Good As Current Meta SMGs

Sure it’s a little on the slow side and has no attachments to speak of, but it’s keeping up with the best of the best. Whether it’s a troll weapon or not, it doesn’t seem to matter. Players found it and are all too willing to use it. It’s a low-range, slow gun, but it can drop even the toughest of players in no time at all. It’s a silly weapon, but that in no way changes how strong it is. Some people have even accused it of being a pay-to-win weapon, but KTravis1991 on Reddit points out this is not the case:

“Everyone saying the nail gun is pay to win is simply wrong. The fastest method to unlock it is in Plunder, since those games don’t need to be completed. Like all guns in this game, it can be unlocked in around an hour-90 minutes. That is the definition of NOT pay to win. Everyone can unlock an access this gun and could from day 1. About it being broken though, absolutely it needs a nerf, almost as much as the MG, that thing is ridiculous.”

So while they agree it’s a ludicrous weapon, it’s not pay-to-win. It is being sold through in a bundle for your loadout though, so there is that. Damien23123 pointed out that it’s definitely (to them) a troll weapon:

“It’s a troll weapon meant entirely for pissing around in 6v6 multiplayer. It’s got no place being a meta SMG in a BR game. It should be nerfed to the point where it’s unusable as a proper SMG”

Some people disagree, not thinking it’s overpowered. They cite the low-ammo (20), close-range only, and damage fall off, and you need to hit all your shots. But when you get the drop on someone, the Nail Gun will melt them. Other users point out that it has no recoil, so you get a lot of just the one clip it offers. Perhaps if it had lower accuracy (except in extreme close-up), it could be a fun headshot weapon.

But right now, it’s causing a lot of grief in Warzone, this Nail Gun is. Raven Software was quick to announce the MG82, another new Season 4 weapon, is going to get some nerfs. This LMG was absolutely dominating the meta. Thanks to it having virtually no recoil, the fastest fire rate of any LMG, and high bullet velocity, nothing stood a chance against it. All players can do now is hope that the Nail Gun gets a nerf. Some accuse it of being yet another pay-to-win weapon as it can be purchased with real money, and it’s not an argument without a foundation. At least you can unlock it for free in Plunder (and you don’t even have to complete matches to do it).
