CoD Pros Pull 180 on Modern Warfare Hate
CoD Pros have been complaining for weeks now about problems with the juggernaut franchise’s newest iteration, Modern Warfare, ranging from the game servers’ 12hz tick rate, to horribly designed maps leaving you vulnerable from multiple angles at all times.
The anger only got worse as the arguments of the pro were met with a lashing out by the developers, Infinity Ward, who accused pros of not working with the dev team on problems they had, and promising that a series of patches would change everything, though they only fixed a few issues pros had.
The situation was like a pot ready to boil over, and players and fans alike were expecting the issues to be a major talking point at a meeting between the CoD League and pros last week.
While details about what exactly went on at the meeting were unavailable to the public, the situation afterward appears to suggest it was for media training as dozens of pros tweeted, at the exact same time, a message reading “I love Modern Warfare!”
Shocked Community and A Possible Forced Post
The sudden 180-degree change in attitude shocked many members of the community, who were expecting revelations of a solution for the growing crisis but were instead greeted with this clearly forced set of tweets.
Some, such as Blametruth, have accused Activision and the CoD League of paying the players to stop bashing on the game, while others say they’ve been forced to do so or risk punishment and removal from playing in the new franchise system.
Several pros have messaged Blame denying those accusations and claiming the tweets were an attempted joke and sarcasm, though a challenge by Blame for them to post another set of tweets bashing the game’s problems has as of yet been unmet.
Not every player took part in the PR/joke move, however, as Seattle’s Karma took to Twitter at the same time stating, “A lot of changes need to happen for me to LOVE Modern Warfare!”
Whatever the case of whether or not pros were serious with the tweets, the controversy surrounding them has only made community perception of the CoD League and Modern Warfare worse at a time when Activision is trying to rile up interest in its new franchises and could lead to some major backlash as we get closer to the season-opener early next year.
As always, we’ll keep you all updated as new developments come to light over the coming weeks.
