Valorant patch 1.7 deployed today with a number of fixes, most notably the long-awaited Streamer Mode and some other balance changes. But what people weren’t counting on was a nasty runtime bug that’s preventing the client from launching. So today we’re taking a look at the fastest way for you to fix the Valorant “VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is missing” error with no muss, no fuss.

Not to worry! Riot has issued a workaround for the patch while things are being fixed on their end so that users can still run Valorant. Let’s get you back in the game in time to defuse that spike, Agent.

How to Fix the Valorant VCRUNTIME140_1.dll Error

“We’re aware of the “VCRUNTIME140_1.dll missing” error affecting some of you after deploying Patch 1.07,” Riot said in a statement. “A fix is on the way! In the meantime, you can work around the issue by downloading the appropriate runtime from Microsoft.”

The runtime is available on Microsoft’s support website, in three different versions depending on what kind of system you’re running.

In order to download the correct runtime, you’ll need to head to your System Information (accessible from the start menu by searching for System Information), on that menu, you’ll then look for System Type. It will either say x86, x64, or ARM64, corresponding to the type of motherboard and system you are running. After this is installed, simply restart your machine and your fix for the Valorant VCRUNTIME140_1.dll error is in place!

What Else Was in Valorant Patch 1.7

Valorant patch 1.7 featured a number of new features including streamer mode, which changes a streamer’s name to be that of an agent so they both won’t be focused down in matches (leading to embarrassment for their stream,) and a lack of spam from viewers trying to add them to their friends list.

This is very similar to the streamer features for programs like Discord, where privacy is very important.

Additionally, there were a number of balance updates, including nerfs to Sage, the shotgun, and changes made to Observer mode.
