Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum Card Reveal Week 2 Recap: Reno, More

by in Hearthstone | Jul, 22nd 2019

As we near the start of the weekend, it’s time for the Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum card reveal week 2 recap. Blizzard is truly beginning to ramp up its card reveals for the upcoming expansion as we have a ton of new cards to take a look at, including some newly ones revealed from just today alone.

There are a total of 15 (or less, depending on how you look at it) new cards that have released with this latest week of reveals. By far, though, the biggest standouts from this week are the long-awaited reveal of the four main characters from the upcoming expansion’s cards.

All four of them had a card dedicated to them a few years back when they were originally introduced during the League of Explorers solo adventure mode. Since then, only Elise Starseeker has been given a new card so the others have gone a while without.

This is unfortunate for players who were fans of these awesome cards, especially for Reno Jackson as his card changed up the metagame significantly back then. Fans will be happy to finally find out what Reno’s new card will be like in this upcoming set since it is entirely focused on him and the treasure hunters.

New Reno Jackson and League of Explorers Cards

Hearthstone Reno the Relicologist Transparent Card

As such, let’s start off the Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum card reveal week 2 recap with Reno’s new card. Reno and Mage fans will be excited about his new legendary card called Reno the Relicologist. This is a Mage class card that costs six mana to summon.

It has a decent four attack and six health but an excellent Battlecry ability that will keep your opponent on their toes, especially if you have no duplicate cards in your collection. When you summon Reno, as long as you have only one of every card in your deck, he will deal 10 damage randomly among one of every enemy minion that in on the field.

10 damage is impressive regardless of the fact that it’s going to be randomly spread, which will help Mage decks clear the field with ease in the mid to late game. This strange no duplicates mechanic is carried throughout all four of the members of the League of Explorers.

Next up is Dinotamer Brann, a legendary Hunter card that costs seven mana to summon. Brann Bronzebeard has weak stats at two attack and four health but what’s great is his Battlecry. As long as you don’t have any duplicates in your deck, he will summon King Krush automatically upon arriving on the field.

If you don’t happen to know about or remember King Krush, this legendary Hunter minion costs a whopping nine mana to summon to the field normally but you get this dinosaur for free when you use Dinotamer Brann. King Krush has an insane eight health and eight mana with charge that will have your enemy quaking in fear just from a single move in this expansion.

Next up is Sir Finley of the Sands, who is much cheaper than his fellow League members. He only costs two mana to summon and he has the solid stats of two attack and three health. Like the other two, his Battlecry activates as long as you have no duplicates in your deck.

When you summon him, you will discover that you have an upgraded hero power. It will let you choose between three random hero powers for your Paladin to suddenly have. This is a versatile card that will make sure that Paladin players have a lot of flexibility moving forward.

Hearthstone Elise the Enlightened Transparent Card

The fourth and final member of the League of Explorers, Elise Starseeker, is also the only member of the group to get her third card in the game with this expansion. Druid players will be getting a very special card and arguably the best of the bunch with Elise the Enlightened.

Elise the Enlightened costs five mana to summon and already has good stats of five attack and five health but has an unbelievably awesome Battlecry ability. As long as you have no duplicates in your deck, Elise will duplicate the entire hand you have at the time when you summon her.

There is no doubting the usefulness of this card as it will not only add potentially numerous cards to your deck but you could then have multiples of amazing new and old cards like the others revealed in the Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum card reveal week 2 recap.

Plagues, Bees, and Spell Card Announcements

Hearthstone Armagedillo Transparent Card

One of those such cards is Plague of Madness, though, this is one that is for Rogue players but it does show off the new Plague mechanic that affects everyone in the game. Each player in the match equips a two/two knife that has poisonous.

Another card is a spell card called Raid the Sky Temple with a quest that players must fulfill before they can reap the rewards from it. It only costs one mana to use so it’s a great starter card for Mages. The quest is simple but make take you a bit: use at least 10 spell cards.

When you do this, you will receive an Ascendant Scroll card that makes it all worth it. This is a new hero power that, when used, adds a random Mage spell to your hand and it will cost two mana less than normal. This is a fantastic way to get easy access to some powerful spells in the endgame for much less.

BEEEES!!! is a hilarious minion card that is inspired by The Wicker Man movie starring Nicholas Cage. It costs three mana to summon and what this spell card does is summon four one/one bee minions to attack an enemy minion of your choosing.

Plague of Murlocs is another plague card that spreads like a disease. It costs three mana to use and will transform all minions on the field, both yours and the opponent’s, into random Murloc minions. This is one annoying card that will help create some interesting Murloc decks.

Next up is the Armagedillo legendary minion card for Warriors. It costs six mana to summon and has four attack and seven health as well as taunt. At the end of your turn, this card will give all of the taunt minions in your hand (not the field) plus two to attack and plus two to health.

From there, we have the low costing Weaponized Wasp card that continues the bee and wasp theme from the other recently announced card. It costs three mana to summon, has three attack, three health, and a Battlecry. When summoned, it deals three damage if you own a Lackey card.

Then there is Psychopomp, a four costing minion that has one epic ability. It only has three attack and one health but its Battlecry summons a random friendly minion that died during the match. That returning minion will come to the field with the reborn ability as well.

Three One-Health Minion Combo Cards

Hearthstone Brazen Zealot Card Transparent

The final three minions are some more low costing ones that will be great additions to any deck and all go together well. The first of these is Brazen Zealot, a powerful minion that only costs a single mana to summon. It is a great card to lead off with, having two attack and one health but the ability to give any summoned minion plus one to attack.

The next of these three final cards in the Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum card reveal week 2 recap is yet another wasp: Sandwasp Queen. This queen costs two mana to summon, has three attack, and one health. Her Battlecry adds two two/one Sandwasps to your hand.

Last but not least for this week’s card reveals is Salhet’s Pride. This card costs three mana to summon, has three attack, and one health. While those are relatively weak stats, it has an awesome ability that is meant for it to die at some point.

When Salhet’s Pride dies, its Deathrattle ability draws two one health minions from your deck. Incidentally, Sandwasp Queen and Brazen Zealot happen to have ideal synergy here. These three work together well, with Salhet’s Pride capable of summoning them, Sandwasp Queen able to fill up the field, and Brazen Zealot able to boost everyone with more attack.

It is a compelling set of cards that were revealed this week and this is only the start. Today marks the first in a string of days where Blizzard will be revealing anywhere from two to six cards most days for the rest of this month. There are plenty more cards on the way so be sure to check back often for new announcements here.
