Hearthstone Nefarian Rises Is the Next Tavern Brawl

by in General | Jun, 7th 2019

Blizzard has announced that Hearthstone Nefarian Rises is going to be the very next Tavern Brawl event in the card game. Players who are familiar with Tavern Brawls and been around for a while will likely be familiar with this returning fan favorite mode.

For those of you who don’t know this Tavern Brawl, it is one of the cooperative versions of the event mode. This means that you aren’t necessarily just aiming to defeat an opponent but work together with another real player to take your opponent down.

How Nefarian Rises Works

But this isn’t a team match necessarily, as it just features you and another player who queued up for the Tavern Brawl as you try to work together to take down Nefarian in a special match. This special boss minion fight is quite unlike most other fights in the game.

Nefarian is not an easy opponent to take down for a number of reasons, hence, why you have to complete the match with another real player and, hopefully, coordinate with them to win. For starters, this boss minion has a grand total of 200 health, which is absolutely insane.

In addition to the overwhelming total health, you can’t target Nefarian with any direct spell cards to deal damage to him, which is even worse. As the match goes on, he will switch sides of the board every turn to take on you or your teammate, depending on which side he’s on.

Unfortunately, neither you nor your teammate can lose to Nefarian or it’s game over. You have to beat him before he takes out either one of you, so you can’t rely on yourself for this match. But that’s still not the full extent of his overpowered abilities.

For instance, once he is down to around 160 health from you and your teammate damaging him, he will suddenly become immune to any other damage for the rest of that particular turn. This same unfair feature will occur multiple times during the match as you whittle down his health further so be prepared for that.

Last but not least, he will also cast some spells at the end of every single turn that will either target you or your minions, and these spells do become more powerful as the match goes on. Don’t worry about having to craft a specific deck to take this Hearthstone Nefarian Rises Tavern Brawl on, though.

How to Win the Tavern Brawl

Thankfully, the Tavern Brawl gives you a unique deck to use during the match. You play as either Anduin the Priest or Morgl the Shaman. As you would expect, both characters come with their own preset deck to use during the Tavern Brawl.

To win in the Hearthstone Nefarian Rises Tavern Brawl, you will need to work together with your team mate and make sure to utilize the role that is given to you. If you are playing as Anduin for instance, your job is to focus on healing and keep both of your health bars up.

On the other hand, if you are playing as Morgl the Shaman, you will need to make sure that you are controlling the board and getting rid of any powerful cards that Nefarian throws your way. This Tavern Brawl is available right now if you’re reading this.

The reward for successfully defeating the boss in Hearthstone Nefarian Rises is a free classic card pack. Be sure to take it on quickly so that you don’t miss out on the Tavern Brawl.
