Happy Chaos Revealed as Next Guilty Gear -Strive- DLC Character
Happy Chaos will be the next DLC character for Guilty Gear -Strive-. The newest character to the series was announced at Red Bull Kumite Las Vegas in a trailer showing off some of his gameplay. In the leadup to the first offline tournament for -Strive-, developer Arc System Works said that the next DLC character would be revealed at the event. The trailer debuted just before the start of Grand Finals between Gobou and Tyler “Diaphone” Kusich.
A Long-Awaited Arrival
Happy Chaos is the third character in -Strive’s- Season 1 pass after Goldlewis Dickinson and Jack-O Valentine. He is a demonic-looking man with blue-gray skin, devil horns, and a black halo above his head. First mentioned in Guilty Gear Xrd, most of his biography and backstory are shrouded in mystery. He serves a more important role in the lore of -Strive- and is featured in many story mode cutscenes. His upcoming addition to the roster marks a proper introduction for him to the series as a playable character. The new trailer gave some more insight to his personality and fighting style.
The trailer dubs Happy Chaos as the “Gunslinging Broken Messiah.” The majority of his attacks involve him firing a large pistol at his foes from all ranges. He can also fire his gun while moving, giving him the unique ability to launch projectiles while approaching. While he is shooting, a green crosshair appears in his opponent’s vicinity. Its effect is unclear, but it is possible that Happy Chaos’ attacks deal higher damage the more the reticle is honed in.
Happy Chaos can also deploy a clone as a defensive tool. Several times in the trailer he places a clone between himself and the opponent. The clone seems to absorb all incoming attacks and allows the crazed gunman to dash away from danger. He can even whiff punish foes who connect with the clone instead of him. It appears to be an especially useful tool when needing to reload his pistol. A brief glimpse of his Overdrive can be seen near the end of the trailer. More details on Happy Chaos’ move set will likely be revealed in a future presentation from the developers.
Happy Chaos will be available in Guilty Gear -Strive– for all Season 1 pass owners on November 30. Players can purchase him individually a few days later on December 3rd.
