Halo Infinite Sends Out Invites to Multiplayer Tech Preview

With Halo Infinite’s release encroaching on this year’s holiday season, there’s a lot of anticipation for the latest release in the Halo series, especially its free-to-play multiplayer mode. It seems as though Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will also spark reinterest in Halo Esports, as we’ve seen pros like FormaL and Flamesword tease a return to competitive Halo. The Halo official YouTube channel also posted an official partnered team reveal to showcase teams who will be participating in the latest iteration of the Halo Championship Series. With all the hype built up around Halo Infinite’s multiplayer and the esports scene that will derive from it, people are excited to get their chance at trying it out in the multiplayer tech preview this weekend.

Details Regarding Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer and Tech Preview


343 Industries posted an “Inside Infinite” blog post with details regarding multiplayer modes, maps, Halo Infinite Academy, and more. Details regarding multiplayer are thus: Halo Insiders (players that have registered with through the Halo Insider program) with eligible accounts made prior to September 13 will be invited to participate in the Halo multiplayer tech previews held over the weekend on specific flight dates and times. The goal of this tech preview is to provide population numbers and platform analytics while also stress testing 343’s servers.

Each weekend of Halo Infinite will focus on a new multiplayer mode, with weekend one focusing on 4v4 Arena and weekend two bringing 12 v 12 Big Team Battle to the multiplayer playlist alongside Arena. The following dates and times will be the schedule for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer tech previews:

Weekend 1

  • Thursday evening, September 23:
    • Halo Insiders can download the build for multiplayer testing.
    • Training Mode and Weapon Drills are available
  • Friday, September 24 from 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PT: Open matchmaking
  • Saturday, September 25 from 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PT: Open matchmaking
  • Sunday, September 26 from 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PT: Open matchmaking
  • Monday, September 27 at 10am PT: Flight access closes until Weekend 2

Weekend 2

  • Thursday evening, September 30:
    • Flight access available to Halo Insiders
    • Training Mode and Weapon Drills become available
  • Friday, October 1 from 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PT: Open matchmaking
  • Saturday, October 2 from 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PT: Open matchmaking
  • Sunday, October 3 from 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PT: Open matchmaking
  • Sunday, October 3 from 9pm PT: Surveys go out to a portion of Halo Insiders
  • Monday, October 4 from 10am PT: Flight access closes
  • Wednesday, October 6 at 10am PT: Halo Support site closes
