Halo Infinite Season 1 Theme Revealed, Release Date Almost Decided
Halo Infinite is one of the most anticipated video games of 2021 and we are finally getting some actual details about what is happening with it, especially in the case of the online multiplayer segment. The free-to-play platform has had its Halo Infinite season 1 theme revealed along with more.
Halo Infinite Is Still Set to Release This Year
One of the other main announcements in this bit of new info is the fact that we now know that the release date for Halo Infinite is seemingly doing a lot better than it initially seemed during E3 week. During E3 week 2021, Microsoft hosted a massive press conference with some huge reveals.
As part of this, Halo Infinite did show up, but almost entirely regarding the multiplayer side of it, for the most part. And, for better or for worse, more than a week has passed now and the new announcements that we have are still mainly regarding the multiplayer side, too.
But the one great piece of information that has been revealed this week (picked up by Kotaku) is that there is hope for the Halo Infinite release date. While there is still no date or even month that has been narrowed down for the highly anticipated sequel, we do know that there is hope at least.
At this time, Halo Infinite is still set to release this holiday season before the end of 2021. This was a point of contention when E3 happened last week because the community was concerned that the game was in a rough position since there was still no release date given.
Release Date Is Dependent on Other Game Releases
This was only made worse when there are games like Elden Ring, Starfield, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus that currently have release dates, despite releasing in 2022 and Halo is set to come out this year. Fortunately, it looks like the reason that a date is not set is actually due to a stranger reason than the actual development of it.
Rather, it seems that the release date is actually whittled down to only a few weeks in general, with the wait being caused by the fact that not wanting to move the date due to announcing it too soon. Xbox head Phil Spencer noted that this has something to do with the timing of other game releases.

More than likely, there is the chance that Microsoft is trying to avoid releasing Halo Infinite on the same day or week as another major game in the industry, especially if it is a shooter. Though Sony and Microsoft are competitors, it is unlikely that Horizon Forbidden West is the game that Spencer is referring to.
Instead, it likely has to do with Call of Duty: Vanguard, the heavily rumored sequel or follow-up from Sledgehammer Games that is going to be the next mainline entry in the popular Call of Duty series. Not only is this also a first-person shooter but it will be released on Xbox consoles and it would be a shame for Halo and Vanguard to compete with one another.
When We Could See Halo Infinite Release
Given that Activision is still being coy about releasing information about the next Call of Duty game, it makes sense that Microsoft is forced to wait some time. Fortunately, Spencer did reveal that the Halo Infinite release date will likely be settled later this summer.
This is also likely due to the fact that we are set to find out more about the next Call of Duty game from Sledgehammer later this summer as well, and it should be happening very soon, in fact, with a possible tease to come in the near future for Call of Duty Warzone.
Regardless, it does look like there is a strong possibility that we are going to see the Halo Infinite release be sometime in November or December as that is around the time that is open at this point with other major AAA releases already filling up the available weeks in both October and now November, too.
Halo Infinite Season 1 Theme Also Revealed
In the meantime while we wait for the release date, we do now know the Halo Infinite season 1 theme. Season 1 of the online multiplayer segment is going to be known as “Heroes of Reach”, which is a very interesting title for what is just the start to the service game.
This is where we are going to see the first battle pass for the game and the content here is likely going to be tied into this Heroes of Reach idea. What is intriguing about this is that it is referencing the planet Reach, which was famously used in Halo Reach to show a prequel story, along with other media like novels.
Halo Reach is a beloved title in the game, creating many conventions that are now commonplace in the game like abilities, and so this is going to be exciting news for fans of that title. As for how this Halo Infinite season 1 theme is going to play into the multiplayer portion, that is something that is unknown at this time.

Despite this, we are able to speculate about what exactly the Halo Infinite season 1 Heroes of Reach theme is going to do for the content of the season. Seasons will last for about three months or so with a new battle pass each time (that is permanently sticking around in the game) and likely other content beyond that.
We imagine that there will be cosmetic items in the battle pass that will reference the characters from Reach, so we could possibly see the return of some of the fan favorites from that title in a way where you are maybe able to use their armor pieces for your character.
We could even see some multiplayer map locations from Reach reappear in a remastered form. This has not been announced by 343 Industries, but it seems like that would be a great way to keep the legacy going from that game moving into the new mainline entry. Stay tuned for, hopefully, more details about Halo Infinite season 1 and its release date in the near future.
