Hackers Stole 780GB Data Including FIFA 21 Source Code in EA Hack
EA is in a world of trouble right now! Even though the gaming world is currently going crazy about the new Battlefield game, Electronic Arts can’t enjoy the show! The reason is a massive hack that resulted in the perpetrators getting access to more than 780GB of data from Electronic Arts’ servers. The EA hack has been the center of attention in the gaming industry over the last 24 hours, and we’re here to give you more info on what’s going on!
EA Hacked | Attackers Gained Access to FIFA 21 Source Code
On the bright side, EA said no player data had been stolen in the hack! However, the fact that the perpetrators have direct access to source codes for both FIFA 21 and the proprietary Frostbite engine means the drama isn’t over just yet.
“We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen… No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy,” – an EA spokesperson said in a statement
Of course, we highly condemn the attackers… but we might get some good stuff from the whole drama too. For instance, we might finally find out if FIFA games have been “fixing” multiplayer matches all along! On the downside, we can expect a whole new wave of players cheating in the game. That said, if you play FIFA on PC; you might want to stay away from it until FIFA 22 comes out. On top of that, we won’t have to wait too long for attackers to start selling key data to the highest bidders.
In February, CD Project Red got hacked too. Yesterday, the gaming giants confessed the hack severity with their data currently floating the vast waters of the world wide web.
From the looks of things, these hacks are just getting started, and we’re bound to see more of them going forward. What are your thoughts on the whole EA hack action? Tell us more in the comments section!
