Guilty Gear Strive Breaks Half a Million Sales Mark

by in Fighting Game News | Jul, 16th 2021

Guilty Gear Strive is an amazing game, and its sales have been killing it! As of June 11th, Guilty Gear Strive has hit 500,000 purchases, and that’s awesome to hear. Daisuke Ishawatari’s incredible 2D fighting game by Arc System Works continues to grow with its latest iteration. It’s all this writer sees on Twitter right now when people are talking about fighting games. As a fighting game that is known for having a pretty serious learning curve, it’s being said that this is the most beginner-friendly Guilty Gear, while also allowing for some intense, flashy, complicated combos.

A Steam Peak of Roughly 31,000 Players

A peak of 31,000 players on Steam is nothing to sneeze at. At the time of this particular writing, there are 4,787 players online doing battle, according to SteamDB. That peak is also higher than some of the other big fighting games right now, like Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7. However, Dragon Ball FighterZ stands on top of the heap (44k), but ArcSys is on top of the FGC right now! It’s not without its controversies, like the brief censorship in the Lore section of the game.

Despite that, Guilty Gear Strive’s sales are really popping off, and it’s not even the end of the news! Arc System Works announced in the Guilty Gear Strive sales announcement that the first DLC character will be revealed soon. How soon? July 20th, 2021 at 6 PM PDT, on this livestream!

Who will this character be though? There’s no telling, but there has been some speculation online. Jack-O’ Valentine, Jam Kuradoberi, Asuka (That Man), and more have been talked about. Personally, this writer is hoping for That Man to show up in this version of Guilty Gear. July will feature a newcomer to the game, and August will have the first Veteran character.
