Godzilla vs. Kong Comes to PUBG Mobile in Update 1.4
Tencent is gearing up for the next stage of PUBG Mobile, including its upcoming new season soon. The PUBG Mobile 1.4 patch notes reveal that we are in for a treat when it comes to the new content coming to the mobile battle royale title soon.
PUBG Mobile 1.4 Release Date
The PUBG Mobile 1.4 update will be a huge one for Android and iOS battle royale players, with tons of new content for players to enjoy with the upcoming end of Season 18. There is a lot to expect from any new season, but this one will be one of the most unique seasons that we have seen in a long time.
PUBG Mobile has had its fair share of crossovers and the like, but this upcoming Godzilla vs. King Kong crossover is a crazy one that we look forward to soon. As for when you will be able to check it out, it all comes down to the PUBG Mobile 1.4 release date.
It will be happening on May 11, which happens to be very soon at the time of writing this, and updates will be pushed worldwide on that day. Players will then be able to download and install the new patch version to enjoy all of the content coming out over the next month or so.
Fortunately, the PUBG Mobile 1.4 release date isn’t going to be problematic for players as the server won’t be taken offline for the new version. This means that you can keep playing as you always do and won’t have to worry about the game going offline while the new patch drops.
You can install the update as soon as it drops. Android players will have a smaller download size overall, with the PUBG Mobile 1.4 update requiring 660MB of storage space to install. However, players on iOS will have a beefier download size overall, with more than double that at 1.67GB in total needed.
As always, players on different versions of the game can’t play with one another, so be sure to update as soon as possible and make sure your friends in the game do, too. If you update between May 11-16, you will get 2888 BP, 100 AG, and the Banana Bonanza 3D when you log in.
How the Titan Strikes Event Works
One of the most important additions in the PUBG Mobile 1.4 update is the release of the Titan Strikes event. This is a huge (literally) crossover event of epic proportions with the Godzilla vs. Kong movie that came out earlier this year in theaters and on HBO Max for a limited time.
The movie sees the giant kaiju of Godzilla and King Kong battling against one another in a massive crossover. That event is coming to PUBG Mobile in a way with the titans roaming the battle royale game. There are three mysterious titans in total that will be taking part in the Titan Strikes event.
How it works is that one of the titans will appear on one of three maps that you can choose in battle royale. Once the event has started, doing a match on one of those three maps will see the titan make an entrance on the spawn island before the battle has even started.
Once the battle royale match has begun, the titan will move across the map in a random path and interact with some map elements along the way. The players will find that the battle royale matches are special, with some added features beyond just the kaiju.
There are monster settlements, Apex Expeditionary Army camps, and new items on the map. You can go about the match as you normally would or follow the titan along the way as they go on their destructive path across the map and see what happens.
When the titan encounters a monster settlement, they will start decimating the smaller monsters on the ground below them. The same can be said for the Apex Army, who the titans have no love for and will gladly destroy when they come upon them.
Fortunately for players, the titans like Godzilla and King Kong are normally not harmful to the battle royale players. Still, if there are too many of you around, you might experience some devastating attacks. And there are reasons to follow the titan closely beside the awesome action that awaits.
The titans will absorb energy as they move, eventually releasing it and creating the Titan Crystal items that drop. There are three of these in total, and they will each give the player a special item to use. The Erangel titan that is Godzilla will give you a special throwable item that knocks players back and burns them.
Meanwhile, the Sanhok titan, which is King Kong, will give players a crystal that boosts your running speed, jumping height, and more. And last but not least, the Livik titan, who is kept secret, for now, will give you an item that can help you detect nearby enemies for a brief time.
Titan Last Stand and Microcosm Modes
The Apex camps you come across are places with tons of supplies for you to collect and use. The best idea is to visit these camps after the titan has destroyed them. Meanwhile, the monster settlements are hostile enemies that will attack you but have some great rewards.
When it comes to the Livik titan, this is a special one that has yet to be revealed officially, but you can probably guess if you are familiar with certain movies. This one has special electromagnetic abilities that will affect the blue zone and shift every once in a while.
You can also enter a special zone to collect crystals to help you in your fight, but you will be exposed to other players during this time. There are a couple of special game modes that will be happening over the next couple of months, too, for the Titan Strikes event.
The Titan Last Stand game mode will take place May 25-June 8. In this event that players can choose from the lobby screen, you will hop on a helicopter to search for Godzilla. You will get caught up in the battle between titans and be able to play this special mode.
In it, you will earn points that you can then use to exchange for some event rewards. Once this event is over in the Titan Strikes crossover, another event will pick up immediately afterward and go from June 9-July 5. This one is known as the Microcosm limited-time mode.
In this strange but cool mode, players will transform into a tiny insect and deal with some fascinating new gameplay. Five labs will appear on Erangel, where you can interact with turning into the small creature and flying around the map.
You will receive an insect weapon that you can then use to battle against the other insect players in the match. You will be invulnerable to almost all normal damage outside of these special weapons, except for pans hilariously enough.
There is also an ability that you will have that allows you to see the laminator items around the map so that you can collect them. Doing so will allow you to exchange them for combat supplies or open up a wormhole to travel from one of the five labs to another. This weird gameplay feature should shake up the normal battle royale experience on Erangel.
The Hangar Arena Map
A new map is coming to PUBG Mobile, but players will have to wait until June 1 to check it out. The Hangar will launch in just under a month and be there for the Arena side of the mobile game, not the battle royale side. The Hangar is touted as a more complex but fast-paced arena.
It takes place in the titular Hangar of a ship on the ocean. Players will have tons of cover in this Hangar to get around enemies and strategically fight them. There will be a main focus on a couple of different playstyles, so players should keep that in mind.
For the most part, The Hangar will be all about the close combat scenarios that are prominent in this arena. However, you can also stick back and choose to play more defensively than the other players, who might want to be more aggressive and continuously moving.
The Hangar will be in the Arena side of PUBG Mobile and, therefore, only available in three game modes in total. But one of them is only the Arena Training mode, so that doesn’t count too much. The other two modes are Team Deathmatch and then Team Gun Game, where you start with the same weapons they shift to new weapons as you eliminate players.
New Content and Weapon Balancing
While the PUBG Mobile 1.4 update is full of new content, some modes are leaving the game temporarily because of it. Metro Royal and the Power Armor modes will leave the game for some changes to them but worry not as they will be coming back in the future.
Now, back to the new content with a vehicle joining PUBG Mobile. Players will be able to drive the Coupe RB from now on in some maps. This is a two-seater sports car that might not have many seats but is super fast and capable of reaching over 150 km/hr.
The new Coupe RB vehicle will be available for duos out there on the Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, and Livik maps. There is a new weapon gameplay option that players have now known as over the shoulder or OTS. OTS puts you in a new perspective that is slightly different than the usual third-person.
Rather than be farther back behind the character, you will be right behind their shoulder, a la games like Gears of War. You will have higher accuracy in this version but at the cost of some movement. This new button can be fully customized and is its feature with settings. It might not be for everyone, but it could be useful when you don’t want to aim down the sights.
There is some weapon balancing in this update, starting with the M249. The appearance of this weapon has been updated, along with its stats. The rate of fire and damage are less than before. The recoil increased and the magazine size is only 75 now, instead of 100.
But there are new magazine and stock attachments that can improve the reload speed, magazine, recoil, stability, and more. When it comes down to pistols, the headshot multiplier for all of them has been increased, and greatly so for hitting arms and legs.
When it comes to the R1895, damage has been increased. The rate of fire is much better now. The R45 and P1911 have better damage as well, along with slight increases for the P92. The P92 also has a much better rate of fire, and so does the Desert Eagle bit.
The marksman rifles now have better scope crosshair calibration for sniper fans out there, which is accomplished by diminishing the crosshair drift. Those are the bulk of the new content in the game, but there are other changes and additions. To see everything in this new update, be sure to check out the full PUBG Mobile 1.4 patch notes here.
