Gob b Retiring, MiBR Jerseys, More CS:GO Daily Recap 8/5/2019
Welcome back to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ve got confirmation on BIG’s new roster, a look at MIBR’s new jerseys and the situation with Coldzera, and a glimpse of the new Cache rework.
As always we’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s dive on in.
BIG Roster Moves – Gob b Retiring?
First up today we’ve got confirmation on BIG’s roster changes.
As we reported last week, German team BIG has been looking to make some rather larger roster moves following their disappointing failure to qualify for the Berlin Major.
The new roster was confirmed on Twitter early Friday morning, with the new team consisting of TabseN as IGL, Tizian, Smooya, XANTARES, and Legija, who will be standing in for Nex until he gets better. While the roster move’s themselves have been rather questionable, the big focus of the announcement was the revelation of Gob b retiring from pro-CS:GO.
The 32-year old was the first German CS:GO player to sign a full-time contract, and was a key component in bringing up German CS and helped lead BIG to a top finish at the London and Katowice Majors.
The announcement of Gob b retiring has been met with a great deal of sadness by the community, but also joy knowing that he plans to move over to a managerial role with the team.
One of the team’s coaches, Kakafu, is also looking for new opportunities.
While all eyes were focused on BIG following their roster changes, an announcement of a different sort was taking place down in Brazil.
MIBR, Immortals’ CS:GO squad, announced a new team jersey yesterday ahead of their appearance at the Berlin Major. The new jerseys swap out the team’s old yellow and green color scheme for a purple and white style reminiscent of soccer uniforms.
While the new jersey’s launch was a big hype moment for the org, they again were hit with controversy when it came to light that Coldzera, already planning to leave the org, was at the event but told by MIBr management that he wasn’t allowed on stage for the reveal.
The move sees a continuation of MIBR’s almost grudging moves to keep Coldzera on the roster but excluding him from participating with the team at matches and sponsorship events. At this point, it almost feels like the team is holding him hostage out of spite.
Hopefully, he’s able to get out of there sometime soon.
Cache and Steamdb
Fmpone, the creator of the much beloved map de_Cache, announced Friday that the map’s remake will be showcased during ESL ONE New York in September.
The match will be a dual showcase-reveal for the new map, and fan excitement has been understandably high following the announcement.
What remains and what’s changed remains to be seen, but we personally can’t wait until New York to see all the hard work Sean and the team have put into bringing Cache up to modern standards.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. With Gob b retiring, MiBR drama continuing, and the new map it’s been a hectic weekend for the CS:GO community. We’ll be back tomorrow with more CS:GO news, so stay tuned!
