by in CS:GO | Jul, 30th 2019

Welcome back to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ll be taking a look at the surprise announcement of NiP’s players buying shares in the org, Smooya’s possible move to NA, and a recap of the Minors from this past week. As always we’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s dive on in.

GeT_RiGhT NiP Investments Exposed

Our first stop today back to Europe, where additional shocking news has arisen around the recent NiP scandal.

Long-time players GeT_RiGhT and F0rest, who’ve been apart of the team since its inception in CS:GO, were revealed to have bought shares in the now besieged team back in October of last year. why he’s likely remained silent throughout the recent controversy.

How many shares they bought is currently unknown, but the move comes as a major surprise considering the poor treatment many players, including these two, have received from the org in the past. Many in the community see the move as poorly timed to reveal, and even a betrayal of their former teammates.

These new GeT_RiGhT NiP details sheds light on why these players haven’t come forward to confirm or deny Fifflaren’s accusations against the team. We’ll have a larger report on the situation tomorrow, so stayed tuned.

Smooya to Dekay

Speaking of staying tuned, yesterday we reported that Smooya and Nex were possibly returning to the BIG starting line-up in a few week’s time.

Jake’s done some digging on the matter and discovered that not only is Smooya not going be returning to BIG, but that he will also be coming over to a team in NA.

Who that team is at the time is currently unknown, but his addition to most of the NA squads would be a major improvement.

We also got a wonderful surprise announcement out of Dekay yesterday afternoon, as the man revealed he’d quit his job and focusing on more CS:GO related content, starting with part of the Boombl4 story later this week. Congrats Dekay on making a career out of your passion!

Minor Recap

Our last stop of the day is the Berlin Minors, which yesterday saw the last spots for the Berlin Major finally get filled in.

As we already recapped last week, North American representatives NRG and Furia made the cut, while over in Europe Mousesports and CR4ZY took the crown to punch their tickets to the Major.

Since then, the Asian and CIS qualifiers were played through, with Grayhound and TYLOO taking the top two spots for Asia. Over in the CIS, Russian org ForZe took the top spot as many expected, but the second-place spot went rather surprisingly to Syman Gaming.

The Kazakhstan-based team is the first from the country to ever qualify for a Major, in addition to their Kazak and Azerbaijani being the first from their countries to qualify too. Time to make your countries proud boys!

Finally, over in the third-place qualifier, we discussed yesterday that North and DreamEater had already taken the first two spots for Berlin. Today, however, we finally have the last spot that C9 vacated earlier in the year filled with INTZ taking down MVP.PK is a resounding 2-0 finish.

The team dominated their Korean counterparts on Vertigo before nearly throwing it all away in a near-comeback by MVP on Train. The team managed to collect itself in time, however, and took the map and series, grabbing the last spot at the Major.

With all the teams now decided for the tournament, this Major is looking incredibly hyped. Will Team Liquid solidify their dynasty and take their Major title? Will Astralis finally find their form from earlier this year and take back the top spot?

We’ll have to wait for the player break to end on the 23rd of August to see how things shake-up, but this could well be one of the most exciting Majors since Boston last January.

In between the new GeT_RiGhT NiP details, Smooya’s move, and Berlin it’s been a hectic day for CS:Go. However, that’s all we have for today, thanks for reading and we’ll see you tomorrow for more exciting CS:GO news.
