G2 Chicago Announcement | Striker Reed “Chicago” Wilen is Set to Join G2 Esports

by | Jan, 8th 2019

What a hectic Monday for Rocket League fans! First off, the G2 Chicago transfer announcement turned quite a few heads this morning. Yes, their RLCS Season 6 Finals performance was terrible to say the least, but it’s still surprising to see one of the longest-lasting RL rosters being parted.

For those of you who haven’t heard yet – G2 Esports announced the addition of the talented striker, Reed “Chicago” Wilen from Evil Geniuses to further improve their roster ahead of RLCS Season 7. Obviously, this means one of their starting trio is out of the picture… But who?

I’m sorry to disappoint all you hardcore G2 Esports fans out there – but it’s Kronovi.

Yup, G2 Esports said their farewells to their former team captain, Cameron “Kronovi” Bills. Kronovi was there from the very start, forming the team base ever since the good old iBUYPOWER days. Needless to say, the fans aren’t too happy about his departure. To further up their pain, Rouge announced another big piece of news shortly after that.

They’ve slapped together an awesome Twitter video featuring their newest roster addition. Yup – Kronovi is set to join Rogue to play alongside Wonder and AyyJayy! Even though he was initially just stepping down from his captain and first-team role, it seems Kronovi won’t be retiring just yet! He will be looking to get back to his best with his new teammates and hopefully win some silverware while he’s at it.

But let’s get back to the G2 Chicago transfer announcement!

Reed “Chicago” Wilen, formerly of Evil Geniuses, definitely has big shoes to fill at G2 Esports. Kronovi was an excellent team captain, bringing both tactical and mechanical prowess to his team’s matches. Adored by the fans and respected by both his colleagues and the opposition, Kronovi is definitely the dominant figure in the RL esports scene.

However, after a lackluster RLCS S6 Finals performance, the roster definitely needed a dash of fresh air. That’s exactly where the 17-year-old striker from Evil Geniuses came in! His explosive playstyle, ambitious attitude, and much-needed in-game aggression are all the things G2 Esports needs ahead of RLCS Season 7.

G2 Chicago transfer announcement has started plenty of discussions over Twitter and Reddit. Nothing surprising considering the sheer impact this will have on the next competitive season of RL.

Chicago seems thrilled about the move and can’t wait to start showing off his dominance on the pitch:

“G2 Esports is an iconic organization in Rocket League’s history, so being able to join it alongside Rizzo and JKnaps is a dream come true for me and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. My goal for this team is to win any sort of LAN event because I have never been able to do so and it has always been my number one goal in Rocket League.”

Come to think of it, I should’ve demanded more money for such a blatant lie…
