FURIA Roster Changes, JR Faces Military Summons, More – CS:GO Recap 9/24/2019
Welcome back everyone to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ve got a look at Furia’s recent roster moves, JR facing a military summons in Ukraine, contractual issues between Aleksib and ENCE, and more.
As always, we’ve got a lot to cover today, so let’s dive on in.
FURIA Roster Changes
It appears Furia may have jumped the gun a bit signing its players to five-year contracts. The latest batch of FURIA roster changes see the team benching one of its members after a rather disastrous 1-3 exit in The New Challenger Stage of the Berlin Major.
The team, in an announcement on their website, declared that former Luminosity and Immortals player HEN1 will be joining the squad, replacing the now benched AbleJ.
While Able is still under contract, Ryan notes that “the buyout for Furia players are reduced by more than 50% when they are benched.” Able could find another team to play for if someone wanted him.
Unfortunately, given how the team performed in Berlin, it’s highly unlikely a team that could still afford his buyout would want him. Lower teams that would love to have him on their squad likely won’t be able to afford it.
Hopefully Able can find a team soon but, if not, welcome to five-years of bench-warming.
JR Faces Military Summons
Speaking of players facing uncertainty in the future, former Vega Squadron JR may be dealing with a similar situation. He recently received a military summons for service from his home country, Ukraine.
In a picture posted to Imgur, the notice, much like a draft notice in the United States, calls him up for service on the 26th of this month. It sparks fears that his career could get cut.
While some on Reddit claim he can ignore the summons and pay a fine, our investigation shows Ukraine has been cracking down hard on draft dodgers lately.
While JR should try to find a way to get out of the draft if he wants to continue playing, we’d recommend avoiding going the dodging route.
ENCE and Aleksib
Meanwhile, to the far north in Finland, another player found himself in a tight pickle this weekend. Aleksib got into a tussle with his former/current team ENCE.
The reason for that confusion between former and current lies in a recent announcement by the squad, who benched Aleksi for Sunny, that the entire team would be signed to contracts until 2021.
The big question is whether or not that includes the benched Aleksi. We can’t imagine he’d want to sign a new contract after how the team handled his departure.
According to the team’s founder Natu, the team gave Aleksi several weeks notice about his impending benching from the squad. Aleksi claims it came suddenly out of the blue.
We’ll continue to follow this story as more news comes to light.
Coldzera to FaZe Clan Rumors
Elsewhere in the scene, the rumors of Coldzera going to FaZe Clan has begun to look more and more like facts. FaZe’s coach’s Instagram shows the team getting ready for ESL One New York. It also appears to show Coldzera taking the photo in the window reflection behind them.
He’s rumored to go to the team for a while now. We can expect to hear an announcement on his move to the squad sometime in the next couple of days most likely.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. We’ll be back next tomorrow with more CS:GO news, so stay tuned!
