by in Fortnite | Feb, 27th 2020

Epic Games is offering a lot of goodies for players to check out this week in the second week of the second season of the second chapter of Fortnite battle royale. This one-of-a-kind week is full of new missions to complete and plenty of rewards to collect for doing so.

Fortnite Season 2 Trudges Along With the Week 2 Challenges List

After the exciting start of the second season of battle royale last week, Epic Games is ensuring that it doesn’t waste any time in offering new content for players to complete. As expected for this week, there are some new challenges to take on.

What is excellent, though, is that Epic Games is offering challenges that are far different from what we are used to. Yes, the standard defeats a certain number of enemies and deal damage missions are here, but there are several new ones as well that take full advantage of the new mechanics this season.

After all, the season is known as Top Secret and the spy organizations, Ghost and Shadow, at the heart of Season 2 finally start to come into play in this second week. Players can not only find out more about these two groups but pick a side as well.

The Fortnite Season 2, Week 2 challenges are oddly still known as the Brutus’ Briefing missions even though we thought that it would change names this week. You can find the full list of the available challenges this week below:

  • Find the five Fortnite Shadow safe houses
  • Hide in secret passages in three different matches
  • Eliminate three players using a shotgun
  • Carry a knocked down opponent 50 meters
  • Deal 250 damage to players from below
  • Open three locked treasure chests with an ID scanner
  • Shakedown knocked down henchmen in three different matches
  • Eliminate three players at Craggy Cliffs or Weeping Woods
  • Deal 200 damage with shotguns to players while in the air
  • Harvest 500 wood, 400 stone, and 300 metal

Those are 10 great and varied challenges this week that utilize the new mechanics of shaking down enemies and hiding in secret passages to teach players how to use them well in Season 2. But the missions this week don’t end there as there is another new unique one.

Two final missions allow you to pick a side in the war between the Shadow and Ghost teams. You can find those two challenges below:

  • Steal security plans from The Rig, The Yacht, or The Shark and deliver them to Shadow
  • Steal security plans from The Rig, The Yacht, or The Shark and deliver them to Ghost

As you can see, they are contradictory challenges. We’ll go into greater detail further below but keep in mind that completing one of them will lock you out of being able to do the other. Without further ado, let’s look at how to complete all of these challenges this week.

Where to Find All 5 Fortnite Shadow Safe Houses

The first challenge is also the longest one that players will likely have to deal with this week. You need to find the five Fortnite Shadow safe houses that are on the island and visit them. In a way, these are like the replacement for the Aim and other outposts from past seasons.

There are five of them that we have found so far across the map so you will need to visit each of these if you hope to complete this task. Surprisingly, they aren’t the easiest to find either as, unlike stuff like the military bases, they aren’t super obvious that these are spy hideouts.

This makes sense, of course, given the Top Secret spy theme that is prevalent this season, but it is annoying regardless. Fortunately, it isn’t too hard to find the buildings and places that house these five locations since they are so close to familiar areas that players visit all the time.

Starting from the northern part of the map, one is close to Craggy Cliffs. It is directly east of the cliffside named location, atop some hills in between several roads that pass by. You might know this location as formerly the radio station disguised that way to hide its true nature as one of the Fortnite Shadow safe houses.

Get close enough to the safe house for the game to notify you that you reached this landmark location. The second place to visit is further south near Frenzy Farm.

Just east of the farmland is a bridge that crosses some water towards Dirty Docks and Steamy Stacks. But just before the bridge is a road that curves and has a gas station. You should head here next.

When you arrive at the gas station, you will find that this isn’t the correct safe house. The real safe house is quite hidden and can’t be accessed from anywhere else on the map but here. Go around to the back to find a little brick bathroom.

Head inside the bathroom. You should see a portable potty there. Interact with it to hide inside of it. It teleports you to the location of the real safe house. Beware, though, as henchmen are waiting for you that will attack you, but just going here will be enough for this part of the challenge, so your character is dying is fine.

For the third location, we need to head to Misty Meadows. When near Misty Meadows, head for the lake north of it. The so-called Lazy Lake here is also southwest of the titular named location. In the middle of this large lake are a couple of islands.

The island in the middle of the lake, the biggest one, is our destination for the third Shadow base that we need to head to. Like some of the other ones, this one is disguised, but thankfully, it is the only thing around, so you shouldn’t have a hard time locating it.

Head to the main island in the middle of the lake to find the large house. The house itself is hiding the fact that it is the next Shadow base. Get close enough to it for the game to recognize that you’re there and you will be good to go.

For the penultimate Fortnite Shadow safe house, you need to head to Holly Hedges. Just north of the named location is a barren road going across. Next to it is a small red brick house. It has a satellite coming out of it. This is the fourth safe house location that you need to head to.

For the last of the Fortnite Shadow safe houses, you need to go to Pleasant Park. This named location from the first chapter of battle royale is home to a gas station on the eastern side of it. Like the Frenzy Farm one, this is a strange situation where you need to teleport somewhere else.

When you get to the gas station, head around to the back of it to find a portable toilet located on the back wall of the station. After interacting with it, you will get teleported to the secret Fortnite Shadow safe house where you will likely get attacked.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the two portable toilets at the gas stations can get destroyed. Unfortunately, in our case, we discovered some matches where they were taken out. We couldn’t make it to the base in that match.

To avoid this, head to the gas station locations first in the match before anywhere else to ensure that you get there before someone malicious does. If destroyed, you have to try another match until you can get there first.

How to Hide in Secret Passages and Carry Opponents

For the next challenge, players need to hide in secret passages in three different matches. This is a somewhat new mechanic that players need to do to finish this task. For starters, you can head to a few different secret passages, but we recommend The Yacht.

The Yacht is the new boat floating on the water northeast of the island near Steamy Stacks. It doubles as a named location and offers several floors for players to scour through. When you get here, enter the back of The Yacht.

There are some vents that you should see from the back of the boat easily. These vents are part of an intricate system that goes throughout the entire yacht. When you enter the vents, this should count as crouching and hiding in some secret passages.

So long as you get the notification about it, you should be good to go. Unfortunately, you must do this in three different matches to complete the task. It is possible that hiding in other stuff like the porta potties and dumpsters, but there is a chance that they won’t necessarily count.

For the next challenge, players need to get three eliminations with a shotgun. This is a pretty standard weekly mission that we see show up all the time. You just need to take out three enemies with any sort of shotgun that you can find.

The three eliminations don’t have to be all in the same match, but they can be if you’d like. Take your time and aim for one kill per match if you struggle to take out other players. Our recommendation is heading to popular locations at the start of the match, grabbing a shotgun, and taking out the easier players there.

With that done, we get to our fourth challenge this week. You need to carry a knocked down opponent 50 meters in total. This is a relatively new mechanic that was added partway through the first season of Chapter 2 in battle royale.

What you need to do is knock down an opponent, which means that you must do this in something like duos or squads as it won’t work in solo mode. Knock down any enemy player and then approach them. You should see the option to interact with them to pick them up.

This will allow you to carry the opponent, but you will be vulnerable during this time as well, so be careful. Now, safely carry them at least 50 meters away and you will finish this challenge.

How to Open Locked Chests and Shakedown Henchmen

Up next is a challenge where players must deal 250 damage to players from below them. The wording of this is odd, but it is saying that you must hit enemy players who are above you in some way. This could be because of a few reasons.

You could just be below them while they are on a hill or mountain, or they could have built themselves a ramp or fort. They could even just be chilling on the roof of a building. So long as they are above you, the damage for this challenge will count.

We recommend using something like a rocket launcher or explosives as they are easier to get damage on someone who is above you. You need 250 damage, which is a little more than two players with only 100 health each or one player with both full health and shields. You can also take your time with this challenge.

Next up is to open treasure chests that are locked by an ID scanner. The gist of this challenge is opening the vaults, a new feature that joined the game in Season 2. Like Apex Legends vaults, players must deal with locations that are locked but hold some excellent loot.

To open the vault, you need to head to one of the five new named locations that joined the map. Those places are The Shark, The Agency, The Yacht, The Grotto, and The Rig. All of these will count for this, so feel free to try and tackle this while doing other challenges.

When you get there, you need to locate the NPC miniboss. Each of them is set at each respective location and have a special mythic weapon. You need to take them out, so come prepared. Once you defeat them, you will get their mythic weapon and the keycard.

You need the keycard item to interact with each of the vaults at those five locations to open it up. Once you open the vault and get inside, you need just to open up any of the treasure chests there for them to count for this mission.

Unfortunately, you need to open three chests, which the vault might have for you or might not. If it doesn’t, you will have to open another vault in that same match or another one until you have opened three.

The seventh challenge this week is to shakedown knocked down henchmen in three different matches. The shakedown mechanic is also new, where players can interact with a knocked down player not to carry them but to shake them up for info regarding their teammates.

You can do this on the henchmen NPCs as well, which is great for locating the minibosses on the map and practicing this mechanic before using it on real players. To locate some henchmen, simply head to any of the five new named locations on the map.

When you get there, check the main areas of these locations and you are sure to come across some henchmen so long as you come here at the start of a match. Take one of them out and then approach them to shake them down. Then be sure to do this in two more matches and you will finish this task.

How to Deal Damage and Eliminate Players

For the next challenge, players need to eliminate three players at Craggy Cliffs or Weeping Woods. This is another typical challenge that simply involves heading to one of these locations and getting three kills there in however many matches it takes you.

We recommend heading at the start like always to get those easier eliminations on the players who aren’t as difficult to take out. This can go together with the next challenge of dealing 200 damage with shotguns to players while in the air.

We presume that this means that you need to be in the air and not them. To do so, jump around while shooting your shotgun or build up and jump down and shoot someone below you. 200 damage is equal to around two players with only health or one player with full health and shields, so take your time.

Lastly in this week’s normal challenges, you need to harvest 500 wood, 400 stone, and 300 metal materials. That is a good bit of materials, but it is easier to do this in the Team Rumble mode where you have a lot of time. Simply go around, chopping down trees and buildings until you have enough materials.

You can do this across matches, though. So, there is that if you can’t get all three up to those required numbers in one match.

Security Plans Branching Challenge Guide

Finally, we have a brand-new type of challenge this week separate from the normal Brutus’ Briefing missions. This is a branching paths mission where there are two different challenges and you pick which one to do this week.

Completing one of them will lock the other one permanently so that you will not be able to complete it. The two challenges revolve around stealing the security plans from The Rig, The Yacht, or The Shark and delivering them either to the Shadow or Ghost groups.

This challenge has two basic parts to it and, first, is stealing these security plans. To unlock this challenge, you need to do at least 18 of the Brutus’ Briefing missions from Week 1 and Week 2. Once you do, you will have access to this special challenge.

You can head to three locations so pick whichever one you know best. Your job is to look for the mainframe server computers located at that named location. Once you find them, simply interact with them to steal the necessary security plans.

Once you have the security plans, head to a location like Steamy Stacks, some mailboxes are located at different places, with the Ghost one being white and the Shadow one being dark gray. Pick whichever side and interact with the respective mailbox to complete the mission.

Fortnite Week 2 Brutus’ Briefing Challenges Rewards

The rewards for completing all these challenges, except the last one, are the same. You will get 40,000 experience for completing them. The last challenge will give you the respective Ghost or Shadow skin variant for Brutus.
