Fortnite Summer Skirmish to Conclude at PAX West
Epic Games has announced earlier this week that the final week of Fortnite’s Summer Skirmish will take place live at PAX West in Seattle, Wash. from Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. The prize pool for the final and week 8 of the Fortnite Summer Skirmish will be $1,500,000 USD.
The competition is opened to all PAX West attendees with registration occurring on site each day at 8 a.m. The first three days of PAX West will begin with three rounds of qualifiers that are followed by final qualifiers each of the first three nights. The final qualifiers will be broadcasted across Twitch, YouTube, Mixer, Twitter, and Facebook from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. PDT. The top 33 players from each final qualifier will earn the right to the PAX West final match. The final match will take place on Monday, Sept. 3 and will be broadcast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. PDT.
The PAX West Summer Skirmish will wrap up an eight-week tournament ran by Epic Games that featured an $8 million prize pool for Fortnite. Fortnite and esports only plan on growing next year as in May, Epic said they planned on committing $100 million in prize money for Fortnite events globally in 2018-19.
Fortnite and Epic Games will also have other attractions taking place at PAX West, including a nine-hole Lazy Links mini-golf course. But we are going to guess most of the appeal to the Fortnite section of PAX West will be to watch all the pros go head to head for the largest prize pool to date.
Week seven of the Fortnite Summer Skirmish will take place this weekend. Epic Games has yet to announce the format for this week.
