Fortnite Streamer Zayn Possibly Ruins Career Over Racist Tweets
Fortnite personality Zayn reminds me of Vash the Stampede from the 90’s anime Trigun. He’s always stumbling from one problem to the next without meaning, too. Except, unlike Vash, it’s truly Zayn’s fault he keeps running into trouble.
The streamer/pro Fortnite player got banned recently for creating a new Twitch account to circumvent another one’s ban. Now, he finds himself in hot water over racist tweets.
Racially Charged Twitter
The controversy began last Saturday when Zayn posted now-deleted posts on Twitter in which he asked if anyone besides himself hates to, “see white girls with black guys?”
Claiming he wasn’t trying to be racist, Zayn remarked how seeing such a couple together was the “biggest turn-off,” and that, “at that point you can’t even go for them.”
Backlash from the Community
The tweet was quickly met with shock by the community. Many asked if someone looking to ruin his career hacked his account.
After Zayn’s racist tweets, he immediately received backlash and accusations of racism from the community and his followers. Many were outraged at the disgusting nature of the tweet.
Zayn quickly took the tweet down from his page, but not before releasing a follow-up in which he bizarrely states that the n-word, which was at no point mentioned in the previous tweet, was just a word. He also claimed he went through “racist stuff every day.”
Zayn rambled about Arabs facing more racism than African Americans. He had some good friends that are “actually black” and that people were turned off by the word because African Americans are well endowed.
Zayn’s racist tweets have yet to earn him a punishment. But, one is sure to come given the insensitive nature of the piece, something Twitter has been keen to crack down on as of late.
We’ll continue to follow the story as the story develops, so stay tuned.
