Fortnite Season 2 Has a Gold Agent Theme, According to Leaks
It is finally time for official teases to begin for Fortnite season 2. We have waited literally months and weeks for this new season to appear in the game after not one but two delays that brought it to the new date of February 20, which happens to be this Thursday.
With the launch date for the upcoming battle royale season to begin, Epic Games began teasing the new season on Twitter today. The developer posted a simple image with a brief caption on the social media platform this morning, hinting at what’s to come for the battle royale game.
Fortnite Season 2 Teases Begin Ahead of Launch
The tweet simply shows an image of a golden handprint that is surrounded by two rectangles, almost squares, and some black and gold imagery in the background to set the Fortnite season 2 theme. On the side, we can see confirmation of the upcoming launch date of February 20, 2020.
Lastly, we can see the words “transmission intercepted” that are also seen in the short caption for the image. There are also several words after that one in the caption that are purposefully blacked out so that we can’t see what they say beyond the strange double equal signs.
The teases don’t end there, though, as the official Twitter account for the popular battle royale game has changed its profile picture as well. The picture is of the classic Fortnite “F” but it is gold with a black background, continuing this new Fortnite season 2 theme.
While that is the end of the official teases for the upcoming season of battle royale, there are more that reportedly began appearing over the weekend. There are billboards in real world locations like the United States, Japan, and Brazil where teaser clips are showing on them.
Cryptic Video Ads Begin Appearing Around the World
Some of these video clips are filled with static and don’t do much to give away what exactly is happening with the next season of the game. In fact, one prominent Fortnite leaker FortTory posted about one particular ad that suddenly appeared in the metro station in Brazil.
While the video clip doesn’t give too much info, it does eventually reveal a cryptic phone number that players can call. According to the data miner FortTory, calling the strange phone number will give you random messages about “the agents” and a “card to access the safe (vault) purchased.”
This whole situation is really bizarre and quite unlike anything else that we have seen before for the game in the past. The data miner even suggested that this could be possibly pointing to a new augmented reality game tie-in that could be released, similar to other mobile games like Pokemon Go.
Overall, though, the bizarre messages and teases from Epic Games seem to give us a hint at what the Fortnite season 2 theme will likely be. With the black and gold aesthetic, mentions of vaults, and agents, it is clear that this will be some sort of secret agent or heist theme in the future.
Teases Hint at Fortnite Season 2 Theme
There is even the chance that we could see a season that is more closely tied to the John Wick universe that was already collaborated with in the past. Perhaps, there will be some sort of new and permanent game mode that players will have to play with in the new season.
It could be one where you play agents trying to steal from vaults while another team is trying to stop them or something like that. It could even take cues from popular games like Roblox that have Jailbreak and other game modes about criminals breaking out and then robbing places to gain money.
Whatever the possible meaning of all of this could be is currently unknown at this time. What is actually rather impressive about the upcoming season is that Epic Games has been the most tight-lipped we have ever seen regarding info leaking about the second season.
Data miners haven’t been able to really leak anything at all regarding the upcoming season so we are still in the dark about anything related to it. With these first teases happening, though, it is apparent that more will happen between now and Thursday.
More Teases Are on the Way
As such, players should expect at least one teaser to happen every day this week until the start of the next season. It is even possible that we might see more teases beyond that or sudden leaks of the new season and what it has to offer but we will have to wait for now.
Our final bit of info that we have regarding the Fortnite season 2 theme and what will be released this Thursday comes from a cryptic message that Epic gave last month. The developer officially announced the release date of the second season with a small hint at what’s to come.
In the announcement, it is mentioned that season 2 will feature “blank” with multiple “blanks.” It is possible that this was a hint at the new game mode or theme of the upcoming season. This season is one of the most exciting yet as we don’t know anything about what’s to come.
In addition, it is the first new season to launch in chapter two besides the original first season. With this current season being the longest ever and really bumming out a portion of the community, it is likely that Epic Games will try something significantly new to reinvigorate the game.
For now, we will just have to wait and see as there are more teases and announcements to come between now and Thursday, February 20 when the second season will begin with map changes, a new battle pass, and possibly some heist shenanigans.
