Fortnite is gearing up for the seventh season in Chapter 2. It looks like it will come along with one of the most surprising crossovers to date with the battle royale title. Epic Games has teased a possible Fortnite Rick and Morty crossover that could be happening very soon. 

It all comes down to a tweet from the official Fortnite Twitter account, doing the usual tease for what’s to come in the next season scheduled to begin this week. Interestingly enough, the tease is pretty straightforward compared to most in that it shows a character in the post.

That character is none other than the Butter Robot from the Rick and Morty animated series. This is the same robot whose entire purpose in life was to, well, pass the butter at the dinner table. The image in the tweet is clearly of the little robot and the butter that it is holding, making this tease pretty definite. 

The rest of the tweet is ambiguous, not giving us much more details beyond what the image shows. It talks about catalog entry #476 and a transportation bot test that has been made. However, it seems that the bot test has been that successful at all. 

The bot has failed to transport various weaponry, documents, and schematics. However, it has been able to transport bone modification liquid satisfactorily. As such, there is “no further testing required” for the bot at this time. 

Regardless of this odd report about a bot, it seems that Epic Games is revealing that there will be a Fortnite Rick and Morty crossover of some kind in the upcoming season of content. As for what the collaboration will consist of, that is something that is currently unknown at this time. 

However, Epic usually teases the upcoming battle pass skins that will be released in the new season ahead of its release. This has been seen in past seasons, with Epic Games giving minor details pointing towards the characters that we will see in the upcoming season. 

Then, it is likely that this is teasing a Fortnite Rick and Morty crossover skin and coming in the battle pass. We have had crossover skins in the last several paid battle passes, so this part is unsurprising but having one from a cartoon series is a bit unexpected. 

Also, who would be the character to appear in Fortnite battle royale Season 7? Is it going to be Rick or Morty, or both of them? Having only one would seem strange but having both simultaneously in the Season 7 battle pass seems a bit weird, too, as that would take up two of the limited skin slots. 

Unless, of course, Epic Games adds an extra skin this season. You get both of them at the same tier level or something like that. There is also the possibility of giving away one skin in the premium battle pass, but the other one has to be purchased in the item shop, but that would be a bit shady, in all honesty, for fans of the show who want both. 

Then there is the case of the Butter Robot itself. Will it also be added to the battle royale title in some way? That certainly seems to be the case, so we imagine that it will be a back bling or something of the sort that you can add to your growing collection of cosmetic items. 

Or, it could even become one of the NPCs on the island, depending on how deep this sci-fi theme goes in Season 7. For now, the Fortnite Rick and Morty make a lot of sense since we expect there to be a more futuristic theme this time around that will be the total opposite of the Primal Season 6. 

There have been aliens seen in the game and other spooky elements that give us a space feel. Ever since the first chapter of the game, players have wanted a space or sci-fi season (different from the cyberpunk-like season X), and it looks like we finally might be getting it. 

Rick and Morty certainly fit in well with a theme like that, so this crossover does make a lot of sense. There is even the possibility that the Fortnite Rick and Morty crossover will not be part of the main battle pass tiers but the secret skin(s) for the season. 

In season 6, we had the Neymar Jr. skin that saw the game expand to having the first soccer player crossover in Fortnite, and that was one that players were able to unlock with some special skin styles to it. It is possible that Rick and Morty could be the same general idea but for Season 7. 

This would be great, too, as it would open the door for some of the most famous Rick and Morty versions that could be extra skin styles that you could unlock through various quests. For now, though, we will have to wait and see what this crossover will be all about. 

Fortnite Season 7 is scheduled to kick off at some point on June 8, which happens to be tomorrow at the time of writing this. The time for the start of the new season has not been specified just yet, but we know that the new season will come with an update on all platforms that will be a bit bigger than usual.
