Fortnite Patch V8.30 is here, and the main highlight of this patch is the new Reboot Van. The Reboot Van is going to shake-up both the Fortnite squads/duos battle royale modes, because now you can respawn your fallen teammates (hmmm…I wonder if they got this idea from another popular battle royale game). Also, there’s the new Buccaneer’s Bounty event, which is live until April 15. Each day of the event features a different LTM that will allow players to unlock special in-game rewards.

Let’s take a closer at all the changes in Fortnite Patch V.30.

Battle Royale Changes

New Items

Reboot Van/Cards

• A Reboot Van is now featured at every major point of interest.

• If your teammate dies, that player will leave behind a Reboot Card.

• A Reboot Card will remain active for 90s before it disappears.

• You can recover your teammate’s Reboot Card (takes 0.5s to grab) and bring it to a Reboot Van to respawn your teammate.

• It will take 10s for you to respawn your teammate at a Reboot Van.

• Any member of the team can respawn their fallen teammate after the Reboot Card is recovered (it doesn’t have to be the player that recovered the Reboot Card).

• After a Reboot Van is used, it has a 120s cooldown period.

• A respawned player comes back with the following: 100 health, 1 common pistol, 36 light ammo, and 100 wood.

• Reboot Vans/Cards are disabled in Solos, Big Team LTMS, and other special modes with respawns enabled.

The Reboot Van in Fortnite is basically a carbon copy of the Respawn Beacon from Apex Legends.

Apex Legends hasn’t taken the BR throne from Fortnite, but it’s a successful game that certainly proved battle royale fans enjoy having a respawn mechanic; this way you don’t have to instantly wipe a game if one of your teammates die early.

But I will say, the Reboot Van is better than the Apex Legends Respawn Beacon in a few ways:

• You can actually use the same Reboot Van more than once.

• Your respawned teammate in Fortnite spawns with a weapon and some items (so you can actually defend yourself when you spawn).

I like the addition of the Reboot Van to Fortnite, and it should improve the pacing of your average squads/duos match.

Nerfs

Infantry Rifle

• Damage has been reduced from 40/42 to 38/40.

• Fall-off damage at max range has been increased from 26/28 to 32/34.

So, this is technically a nerf/buff, but it’s mostly a nerf that takes away some damage from this gun after the big buff it received in Fortnite Patch V8.20.

Baller

• Health reduced from 300 to 200.

The Baller will be easier to destroy now.

Storm Damage

• Storm Damage no longer triggers instantly; it will start after 1 second.

The Storm Damage start-up time has been nerfed — you’ll now have a little more time to heal up before Storm Damage is applied.

New Event

Buccaneer’s Bounty Event

• A different LTM is featured every day (runs from April 10 – 15)

• Complete the event challenges to unlock in-game rewards

• Spawn rate of Treasure Maps has been increased for the duration of this event:

• Floor Loot availability increased from .25% to .5%.

• Chest availability increased from 1.55% to 3.05%.

There’s a unique Buccaneer’s Bounty challenge featured in each one of this event’s LTMs. Just complete the challenge to unlock a reward. And if you complete all four of the Buccaneer’s Bounty challenges before the event ends, you’ll unlock an epic-tier emote.

Limited Time Modes

Fly Explosives

• Only explosive weapons are enabled.

• Jetpacks will occasionally spawn.

• Storm wait time reduced.

• 120 Rocket ammo cap.

Explosives and jetpacks…watch out for enemies hovering above you with rocket launchers!

Team Rumble

Team Rumble is a fan-favorite LTM, and it received a few adjustments in Patch V8.30:

• Eliminations to win the match increased from 100 to 150.

• Final circle radius decreased from 20000 to 12500.

• First circle no longer has one-minute shrink time.

• Chest and Floor loot spawn chances increased to 100%.

• AR spawn chance increased by 67% in chests.

• Suppressed Pistol spawn chance decreased by 75%.

• Two Legendary weapons and two additional consumables will come out of Supply drops.

• Compact SMG and shotgun drop chance increased by 50% in supply drops.

• Rocket Launcher spawn chance decreased by 50% in chests and 67% in supply drops.

• Spike Trap drop chance decreased by 50%.

Other Changes

Fortnite Patch V8.30 also includes some new content for Creative and Save The World fans.

Creative players will now have access to a Jetpack, and a new Multiselect tool (moving your structures will be a lot easier). Plus, there’s some new Islands and a bunch of military prefabs available, too.

And Save The World received the new legendary Constructor hero Bombsquad Kyle (he’s quite a tanky individual).
