Fortnite’s latest patch is a small one, but it introduces a new item for Battle Royale mode and some fresh weapons for Save the World as well. Fortnite Patch V7.10.2 grant players access to the “Boom Box” — this musical nuisance allows players to wreck structures all over the Battle Royale map.

Meanwhile, neat new weapons, such as the Pain Train Assault Rifle, will have players dishing out serious damage to the monsters of Save the World.

Battle Royale Changes

Boom Box

Activate to create powerful blasts of music that deal structure damage in a large area! Newly built walls in the radius of the box are destroyed with every blast. Shoot the Boom Box to stop its effects.

While Fortnite Patch V7.10.2 brings along only one new item for Battle Royale mode, the Boom Box will greatly influence the outcome of games. Building has always been a fan favorite feature, but now an opposing player can simply wipe out your structures, big or small, by putting the Boom Box around it; you cannot build anything near where the Boom Box is placed as well.

This item could hurt the game’s competitive balance, considering it does not take much effort to put down the Boom Box and watch it demolish your opponent’s real estate. I imagine a nerf is coming soon.

Creative Update

Fortnite Patch V7.10.2 will add some variety to a player’s choices of Ice Castles with the addition of eight new prefabs!

Save the World Changes

New Weapons:

Pain Train Assault Rifle — you can purchase this new assault rifle in the weekly store. It has a slow rate of fire, but does significant damage if you can land your shots. Here are some of the base stats:

• Damage: 33
• Crit Damage: 50%
• Fire Rate: 7.5
• Magazine size: 30

Tree of Light Sword – this funny looking melee weapon is a Frostnite weekly challenge reward. It’s sort of like the Pain Train Assault Rifle in sword form — it swings slow, but it does high damage. This melee weapons also includes a new sixth perk that will stun nearby enemies after eight successful hits.

Other Changes

Fortnite Patch V7.10.2 also adds Frostnite Challenge missions. There will be a new mission available in the Frostnite Zone each week, which encourages players to test their skills to unlock rewards— such as the Tree of Light Sword. One challenge is called “Slip Out,” and requires players to exercise their building skills to avoid sliding around on snow and ice.
