Fortnite Cube Queen in Season 8 Battle Pass: How to Unlock
The latest skin has dropped in Fortnite Season 8 and contains the “secret” battle pass character. The new unlockable skin in the battle pass is the Cube Queen Fortnite skin and it allows players to don the garments of the queen of Kevin and the cube monsters in battle.
Cube Queen Fortnite Is the Season 8 Unlockable Skin
As always in Chapter 2 of Fortnite, Epic Games offers players the chance to unlock an extra skin for the battle pass in Season 8. This started with Deadpool back in the day as the “secret” character, and it has continued through every single season since this chapter.
This time around, the character we are receiving is arriving much more timely than Superman’s last-minute arrival on the Fortnite island in Season 7. The Cube Queen Fortnite skin is available as an unlockable bonus for battle pass owners.
This is also the first time since Deadpool that the new extra battle pass character is someone wholly unique to Fortnite and not a crossover character or a real-life celebrity, like Neymar Jr.’s case in Season 6. What is important to note about this new Fortnite-original character is that she is free to some players.
If you already own the premium version of the Season 8 battle pass right now, you will be able to unlock this character immediately by the time you read this post without having to spend any extra money in the game. This is in addition to the other Season 8 characters, like Toona Fish, Carnage, and the like.
Furthermore, the actual way you go about unlocking the Cube Queen Fortnite skin is a bit different from the other battle pass outfits in Season 8. That is why we will break down everything you need to know about this skin, including how to unlock it and all of its various skin styles. Let’s get started.
How to Unlock the Base Skin Version
Before we can jump into the other skin styles offered for the Cube Queen Fortnite skin, we need to unlock the base skin version, first and foremost. To do this, the first objective that players must complete is to make sure that they own the paid battle pass for this current season.
If you have not already done that and want to unlock this skin, that is the first step that you must complete. You have a few options, too, when it comes to getting the paid battle pass. It is ultimately up to you which one will make the most sense for your time and wallet.
If you already have 950 V-Bucks or more on your account, you can hop into the game and buy the pass or the upgraded one with 25 tiers already unlocked that cost more. Alternatively, we are fans of the Fortnite Crew subscription for when a new season comes out.
Subscribing for a single month, which is around $12.99 a month, will get you some V-Bucks, some cool extra skins and other goodies, and the paid version of the current battle pass if you do not already have it. It costs a bit more to get, but it might be worth it for the extra items that you get.
Regardless, once you have the paid battle pass in your possession, you are ready to get the Cube Queen Fortnite skin’s default style. This requires completing a single mission in the game. It is not too challenging to accomplish but can take a bit of time to do.
The challenge is as follows for the Cube Queen Fortnite skin:
- Survive five storm circles while carrying a Sideways weapon
The difficult part here is not the survival part but making sure that you do it with a Sideways weapon in your possession the entire time. This means that you will need to immediately head to the nearest Sideways zone on the map when you enter the match after gearing up a little bit.
Once you get inside, you need to find one of the Sideways weapons there and then get out with your life. From there, you need to carry around that Sideways weapon and make sure to do so for five storm circles in total.
The second problem that arises in this particular case is that you then need to survive five phases, which is a lot for one match, even from start to finish. As such, you may have to do this in two or even three matches, depending on how long it takes to get a Sideways weapon. Fortunately, you can take your time with this one. Once you are done, you will receive the default Cube Queen skin version of white, blue, purple, and majestic (and sort of reminiscent of Ariana Grande).
How to Unlock the Other Skin Variants
Once you have the base version of the new Cube Queen Fortnite battle pass skin, you are ready to start looking ahead to the other versions that you can unlock for this character. The queen of the cubes and monsters comes with two additional skin styles right out of the box for you to unlock.
While it is fairly easy to get the default skin style, the other two options will take some effort on your part to unlock them. Like past skin styles, such as what happened with Clark Kent’s dark Superman form, you will need to complete some challenges first before you can get it.
Fortunately, these two extra skin style options, the Obliterator and Islandbane versions do not require the overwhelming number of complete quests like past extra versions did. Instead, there are just a handful of missions in Season 8 that you must complete if you want to unlock them.
Once you have completed the required quests for the skin style version you are looking for, you will have it in your locker and be ready to go. There are only a few necessary for each, and the missions themselves are similar to the punchcard ones we’ve already done this season, so it should not be too difficult. Even still, we will help you out with completing each of them below.
Obliterator Page 1 Punchcard Quests
First up on the list, we have the Obliterator version of the Cube Queen Fortnite skin. This is the second skin that you can get. It features completing all of the quests that are on the first page of the Cube Queen punchcard.
What you will find on this page, similar to how the battle pass is, is that there are five items in total on it. If you want to get the Obliterator skin style on this page, you must first earn the other items. This means completing four missions and unlocking their items.
Fortunately, if you are in the process, you have already done one of them by unlocking the default skin style. That leaves three more to complete, which will reward you with their own unique themed cosmetic item to make it even more worth the effort.
Here are the three quests that you must do on the first page of the Cube Queen section to unlock the Obliterator skin style:
- Eliminate a player by using the Sideways minigun
- Shakedown two opponents
- Use a shadow stone or flopper to phase for three seconds near a player
First up on this list of these missions, we can eliminate a player using a Sideways minigun. This is a weapon you can get in the Sideways, so it pairs nicely with the first quest we needed to complete. While running around surviving with the minigun, you can do this mission, too, which is to take someone out with the minigun.
For completing this mission, you will get one step closer to the Obliterator version and the Last Cube Standing emoticon. The second mission is to shakedown two opponents, and they do not have to be in the same match.
Shaking some down involves doing a team-based battle royale mode, downing an enemy, and then shaking them rather than eliminating them immediately. You need to shake two enemies to unlock The Queen’s Court loading screen as a reward. This reveals the location of their teammates and can help finish off a squad.
Then, the last one for this page is to use a shadow stone or flopper to phase for three seconds near a player. This is a bit tricky, but you can choose to head to a cube-themed area where you will find shadow stones and, hopefully, other players or fish for a flopper.
Whichever method you go about, the goal is to consume the flopper or shadow stone near another player so that you can phase into invisibility for at least three seconds near another player. Doing so will unlock the Cubic Vortex back bling and the Obliterator variant of the skin since you will have finished this first page of quests.
Islandbane Page 2 Quests
From there, we come to the second page of quests for the Cube Queen, which involves five items that you can get and four missions that you must do if you want to unlock the Islandbane version. You can find the full list of the four missions for this particular section below:
- Deal 150 damage to players by using the Sideways Scythe
- Complete a bounty from the bounty board
- Get two headshots with the Sideways rifle
- Glide in the smoke stacks at Steamy Stacks
First up, you need to find the Sideways Scythe if you want any chance of completing this first mission. The scythe is a newer weapon that you can find in the Sideways zone. It could take some RNG and time to find it, but once you do, you need to deal as much damage as you possibly can.
It is a melee weapon, but a powerful one, so it will not be as hard as using pickaxes to get the 150 damage, which is worth more than a player with only full health. If you only get some damage, though, no problem, as you can continue this quest in the next match until you get all damage necessary. Once you do so, you will unlock the Reality Render pickaxe.
After that, we have a mission to complete a bounty from a bounty board. Bounties are still in the game, but the only way to get one is to visit a bounty board around the island. Several scattered throughout, so pick the nearest one, accept a bounty, and work with teammates to take out the enemy player. Doing so will net you the Regal Visage spray.
After that, you need to get two headshots with the Sideways rifle. Like the other weapon ones, you first need to head to the Sideways zones, survive, and find this rifle. Once you do, you will need to land two headshots, which might take some time if you are not used to more long-range fights. After completion, you will get the Queen’s Anthem lobby track.
Last but not least, the final mission has you head to Steamy Stacks, go to the titular stacks, and fly up to glide around in them, and that is it. Doing so will grant you the Queen’s Procession glider, which is one of the best gliders in the game ever, and the Islandbane variant if you did the other quests, too.
What is worth keeping in mind, though, is that the Cube Queen Fortnite skin and all of her variants are only available for the duration of Season 8. If you want to unlock her, we recommend acting fast. Fortunately, there is still a good bit of time left in the season before its end.
We hear rumors that the current Season 8 will end sometime in early December, so you likely have at least a month to get all of these done. With some help from friends, it really should be no problem to get all 10 of these quests done in a decent time.
