Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Trailer Leaks Showing New Map, Boats, More

Epic Games is not holding anything back when it comes to the upcoming 11th season of the game. Officially known as Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1, this latest season of the game is like a fresh new start for the game all around.

Players will have the chance to check out a brand new map that looks to be wholly its own thing instead of a simple remix of the first map from the past 10 seasons and two years. The trailer was briefly leaked via a Twitter account before being removed but has been reported on by PC Gamer.

What the New Fortnite Season 11 Trailer Shows

There really is a lot to unpack in the trailer so let’s get right into it. First and foremost, there is a brand entirely new-looking map that players are able to get. We don’t technically know that this a new map or island than the one from before but we don’t see a single familiar area in this particular trailer.

Though it is only around 30 seconds in length, the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 trailer shows quite a lot in its brief amount of time. To get a good look at the new map, we have a few notable areas that we can see. For one, there seems to be a lot of water in this map from large lake-looking areas to rivers and more.

There are a couple of noteworthy points of interest as well like a nuclear-like power plant, a forest rife with camping, a town with a large hotel, a really nice beachfront, a large waterfall, and more. There are a couple of new vehicles that are seen as well for getting around to all of those areas.

There is the new boat that seems to be available for squads, allowing players to shoot one another while driving around the rivers and other waterways. Speaking of water, you can really swim this time around instead of hopping around on top of the water unrealistically.

The other vehicle shown is near the end of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 trailer where a line of players are shown hopping along on llama-themed pogo sticks. There also appears to be some sort of stealth mechanic being added to the game where you can hide in a dumpster and jump out to fight opponents.

You are also able to complete other smaller tasks like blowing up gas machines at the gas station to take out other players, carry those downed teammates on your shoulders, and so on. There is even a glimpse of a player fishing with a fishing pole that happens to help them level up to a whopping level 127.

Possible Changes to the Battle Pass and Progression

Prior to this, players could only reach level 100 at the max as well as tier 100 so it is possible that Epic is raising the max to bring the battle pass more in line with other games. Other games like Call of Duty, for instance, allow the player to go beyond the typical 100 tiers and simply get lesser rewards each tier.

There are going to be over 100 items available for unlocking in the new battle pass including some awesome new skins and more. This possibly includes cooperative emotes since we can see a two-player emote at the end where the players high five one another. The progression system itself has other ways of unlocking stuff with new medals like scavenging, battle, and other medals.

The overall look of the new map in the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 trailer is fairly similar to the old map from the first 10 seasons but this is probably just because of the graphical style of the game. Despite this, the graphics do actually look a little nicer than it did in the game before this.

It is possible that the game will be getting a graphics boost on certain platforms with the launch of the new season and chapter. Of course, it could just be the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 trailer itself being made to look better to show off everything that is offered.

According to the leak as well, there is also going to be 1,500 v-bucks given out to those who complete the new battle pass, presumably, to tier 100. That is a lot of in-game currency since it is almost enough for the next battle passes in the game so long as Epic keeps the price for it the same.

Alternatively, those v-bucks could be used for a nice new skin or cosmetic item in the in-game store. What is worth noting, though, about the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 trailer is that it shows very little actual building within the game itself.

The only real shot of any building within the trailer is seen towards the end when the player is storming the beach with their downed teammate on their back. There are shots of two small forts where players are shooting at the player from so, worry not, building is returning.

It is possible, though, that Epic Games is billing this new season as a more traditional season that focuses less on the building and more on the actual shooting action like other battle royale games.

We won’t have to wait too much longer to find out either since the next season of the game is likely to begin sometime tomorrow on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
