Fortnite Champion Series Detailed, Epic Won’t Remove Brute From Competitive

Now that season 10 (or X as Epic Games likes to call it) is getting into full swing, Epic Games has revealed its plans for the future of the competitive scene. The World Cup earlier this summer was a momentous event for battle royale and it looks like the fun isn’t going to be ending anytime soon.

Fortnite Champion Series Details Revealed

The main point of the competitive launch update for season 10 focused on the Fortnite Champion Series that is starting soon. It will be the next step for the esports scene for battle royale this year. Players who missed out on the World Cup qualifiers or want a second chance, this is the series for you.

For starters, we now know that the Fortnite Champion Series will be kicking off on August 17, 2019, which is just around the corner. The series will be held each weekend for five weeks straight with a three-round trios’ event each weekend. The way that these qualifying events will work is like the World Cup qualifiers.

Each of the five weekends during the Fortnite Champion Series, players will compete in the trio’s event and the top teams each week from every region will advance to the Season 10 finals. But what’s great about this second iteration of this format is that players will have another way of reaching the finals.

Players will be getting points in the series each week, depending on how well their team places during the qualifier events. Those points will determine where they end up on the series leaderboard each week and the top performers on the leaderboard will also make it to the series finals.

The purpose of this major change is to not just reward those players and teams that are fantastic at competition each week but to reward consistency for those teams who do well each week and place well on the leaderboards. The finals for this season won’t be too far away.

The Fortnite Champion Series finals is going to be held sooner than you might expect on September 20-22, 2019 to determine who the season 10 champions will be. Presumably, this is a trend that will be starting this season and continue with the successive seasons after this.

The Fortnite Champion Series will have a massive prize pool of its own available for players to collect as there will be a grand total of $10 million in prize money given out in the series across all the regions. If you want to participate in the qualifying events, be sure to have two factor authentications on as it is required.

In addition, Epic Games has issued some fixes for the Arena ranked competitive mode. There was an issue earlier this week where the playlist used the season 9 matchmaking buckets instead of the season 10 ones, which caused players to match up incorrectly. However, that has been since fixed.

Epic Games Isn’t Removing Brute From Any Modes

Beyond the changes to the Arena ranked playlist, Epic Games has finally addressed the massive Brute issue that has been plaguing the online community for the last week or so since the season launched. It’s that the Brute is the new Baller vehicle but for very different reasons.

The Brute is a nuisance in the competitive scene with streamers, fans, and pro players alike lamenting the mech for its overpowered abilities. There are streamers like Ninja and others who have expressed their disdain for the mech that has resulted in multiple kills over and over.

Well, Epic Games has been investigating the Brute mech and, though players would like a nerf or removal from competitive modes, it will continue being part of Arena and everything else. There is a single change that is happening to the Brute and that’s the addition of a targeting laser in the next patch.

With the release of version 10.10, the Brute will now have a targeting laser for the rockets to show where it is being aimed at. In addition, there will be audio cues based on the direction of the rockets to help you know if the rockets are being aimed at you even if you’re in a building and can’t see them.

However, that doesn’t change the power and capabilities of the Brute mech so players will continue to have to deal with, potentially, in the new Fortnite Champion Series as well. Thankfully, Epic is continuing to investigate the situation so there is the possibility for more changes in the future at least.

Hopefully changes come sooner rather than later since there is a game-breaking glitch that will guarantee a player a win that has been reportedly found with the mech. Through a series of events, the player can enter “god mode” and be invincible for the remainder of the match.

Supposedly, not even the storm can affect the player so all they must do is stick around until the other players die from the storm and there’s an easy win. This can even be possibly replicated in the Arena mode, which would mean that players could easily move through the ranks while the glitch is available.

At this time, Epic Games has yet to acknowledge the glitch so, hopefully, a fix is issued soon, especially with the start of the Champion Series soon. It will be starting next weekend on Saturday, August 17 and go for the following five weeks. Stay tuned for the results from the qualifying events right here.
