Fortnite Announces New Crew Subscription

by in Fortnite | Nov, 24th 2020

Earlier this month, we discussed a rumored Fortnite subscription and then talked about what it would mean for other games. As of today, Fortnite’s new crew subscription is confirmed. It costs $11.99 a month and begins with the launch of Season 5 on Dec. 2. The real question is, are you going to get your money’s worth each month? It’s only $12, and it sounds like a solid way to support a free-to-play game and get some perks on top of it. What’s the bundle come with?

Fortnite Crew Subscription

One of the great things about the Fortnite crew subscription is that you will always have access to the current season’s battle pass. Even if your sub ends during that season, you keep the battle pass. Even better, if you already have a current season’s battle pass, the 950 V-Bucks will refund to your account. If you bought it and decide to subscribe, you’ll get the cost back.

Speaking of V-Bucks, we talked about possibly seeing free V-Bucks in the new Fortnite crew subscription. Each month, you’ll receive 1,000 V-Bucks. That’s on top of the V-Bucks unlockable as a part of the battle pass. Since 1,000 V-Bucks are $9.99, that’s already half of the subscription cost. Finally, you also receive a monthly outfit bundle each month!

Each month, the Fortnite crew pack offers up an exclusive bundle of a new outfit, plus at least one matching accessory for it (glider, pickaxe, or emote). These are yours to keep forever too. They will always reveal the crew bundle early, so you can decide if this is something you want or not. For example, December’s crew pack stars the empress of the cosmos Galaxia plus Style, accompanied by the cosmic llamacorn pickaxe and fractured world back bling. It’s a gorgeous cosmetic set and looks like it will be pretty popular.

The Xbox website says there will be details/FAQ on the Epic Games’ Fornite crew site. This all begins on Dec. 2, when Season 5 drops, and you are free to cancel anytime. We’re glad that Fortnite will drop the teaser for the new cosmetics in advance, so you can choose whether to stay subbed. That was one of the first things we heard was, “What if the cosmetics suck?”

Most of the Fortnite cosmetics, in general, are pretty awesome, so there’s a lot to like in this announcement. You don’t have to do this to get ahead in the game, but it does allow you to support Epic Games if Fortnite’s in your regular rotation of games. You receive some pretty worthwhile benefits, and it does add up to more than the price of admission.
