For the Community: New CS:GO Skin Case
Hey everybody, welcome back to the CS:GO Recap, your source of daily CS:GO news and updates. We’ve got some exciting things to talk about today, so let’s dive right on in.
Jake and the Mysterious CS:GO Skin Case
Our first stop of the day is Valve’s skin team, which had an exciting announcement for the community in regards to the next skin case.
The new CS:GO skin case, which should be arriving sometime in the next three months, will be a community case, meaning members of the community can submit their own skin designs to possibly be included in the case. Submitted skins must revolve around the cases’ theme, which this time around is “Counter-Strike itself”. What that exactly means is unclear, and Valve has left it open to community artists to interpret.
What is known, however, is that there is no one perfect way to make a skin, as Valve has in the past skins that are artistically beautiful, and yet others that look like something out of MS Paint. In Valve’s own words, “no approach or style will guarantee you a success”.
While there is no set style to go off of to increase your odds, Valve did give some tips to help out. First, make sure you design your skin to fit a variety of weapons. Secondly, make sure the skin can fit into different rarity tiers. Following these two tips will greatly increase your odds of getting your skin selected for the case.
Speaking of designing skins, Jake has issued a challenger for the design contest: if the accompanying video for this article breaks 500 likes, Jake and his team will design at least one skin for the case. We’re not sure exactly what he has in mind for it, he’s keeping it under wraps, but we suspect it’s going to include at least one giraffe in it.
If you want to see what Jake’s got cooking, check out the video above and don’t forget to give it a like. And if you’re looking for more CS:GO news, or are closely following the Syman controversy, check out our continued coverage here. To everyone submitting skins for the case, good luck: we can’t wait to see what you create!
