Flappy Bird Is Back As Flappy Royale, a Battle Royale Game on PC and Mobile

If you were looking for yet another battle royale game, look no further than the long-awaited return of Flappy Bird. Flappy Bird is back yet again but this time in arguably its best form to date as Flappy Royale. You can play this latest bird jumping game on both mobile and PC.

Flappy Royale Details

Flappy Royale is, as the name implies, a battle royale based on the traditional and uber popular platforming mobile game. Your goal is just the same as ever before: survive as long as you can by jumping through various pipes. The difference this time is that your main goal beyond that is to be the last bird jumping.

Interestingly enough, Flappy Royale is much more than just a copy-paste of the original bird jumping mobile game. You are able to select your name, choose what your bird looks like online, and more. There are enough interesting elements here to make the game become a phenomenon once again.

Flappy Royale isn’t actually a game that you download directly to your phone or PC (at least not for now) but a website that you visit and can play right now online. Considering the game is still in beta at the moment, the creators have chosen to only allow people to play it through the IO website.

How to Play Flappy Royale

Like the original game, it’s totally free to play and there don’t appear to be any alarming microtransactions at this time. The way the game is set up is simple: you and 99 other players start out on a bus traveling towards the pipes.

You must start out the game by jumping off of the bus or else you’ll die when it hits the first pipe. The key to the beginning of each round is knowing when to jump out. We’ve found that the best solution is to jump when the bus moves just past the halfway point of your screen.

From there, it’s typical bird business as usual. Just like the original game, your bird will fall to the ground if you leave it alone so you must time your taps perfectly to jump up and through the various pipes that you encounter. This time, though, you have the added burden of seeing 99 other players attempting the same.

Surprisingly enough, the other players aren’t too distracting as they are seen as little ghosts that will be jumping next to you. You win by being the last bird jumping through the pipes. It’s an addictive formula with each match usually ending for us in a handful of seconds.

The way the game is built, it’s designed so you win or lose and can immediately jump into a new match. Fortunately, there are so many players right now that you are basically guaranteed to have an instantaneous full match each time.

Overall, this is a hilarious family friendly version of the battle royale genre that is refreshingly unique. It joins the likes of other non-fighting battle royales including Tetris 99 and so on. The 2013 phenomenon that took the world by storm before being shockingly removed from the App Store lives on in this battle royale game.
