A lot of Square Enix fans have been excited to play the remake of Final Fantasy 7 on their new consoles, and for those who had purchased the game already, or those who are still on the fence, PS5 owner’s have got a lot extra in terms of this new version. Titled Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, players will be able to relive the wondrous world of Final Fantasy 7 in a wholly new way compared to the original game.

What’s Included in Intergrade

Players who have already played the remake of Final Fantasy 7 won’t notice much in terms of gameplay. However, for those who are not familiar with the remake of the classic title, the FFVII Remake is not a traditional turn-based RPG. The gameplay is similar to Final Fantasy XV, with players having similar mechanics like health and mana, but the fight is played like a regular character action game. Some would consider this to be similar to Kingdom Hearts, which they would not be wrong about. However, in terms of actual upgrades from the previous iteration of the title, PS5 Players who pick up Intergrade will get a full visual overhaul of the game, fixing many of the original game’s blemishes, as many fans pointed out that the textures in some areas were too low quality. Players will be happy to know that the game now looks better than ever, andn top of all of this, they’ll also find that the PS5 version of the game comes included with two modes, one for performance, keeping the game at a cool 60 FPS, and one for quality, running the game at a crisp 4K resolution, letting all the visuals shine at peak performance.

Included in Intergrade is “EPISODE INTERmission,” a DLC campaign featuring fan-favorite character Yuffie, who didn’t appear in the original game. Technically, the game isn’t a full remake of the original, but a remake of the game up until the characters leave Midgard, so Yuffie will appear in the main character role during the game’s inevitable sequel. For now, Yuffie is starring in a solo adventure, which takes place during the events of the main story of part 1. Her mission in this story is to steal materia from Shinra, the main antagonist of the first half of the game. Thankfully for Yuffie, she’s not alone, and will be going into Midgard with the likes of new characters. These include Sonon, who plays as Yuffies Sidekick and trained with her father and more members from within Avalanche, the ecoterrorist group that Cloud works with in the first game. According to Square Enix, Yuffie’s story directly leads to Part 2 of Final Fantasy 7’s Remake, meaning that the DLC serves as an INTERmission between titles.

PS4 owners of Final Fantasy 7 Remake aren’t left in the dust, however, as inserting the PS4 disc will let the game run in the PS5 enhanced version of the main story. However, players who do upgrade to the PS5 version will still have to fork over $20 for Yuffie’s INTERmission. The only downside to owning a copy of the FFVII Remake on PS4 is if players picked up the game while it was on Playstation Plus, as any player who picked the game up on there will be unable to play the enhanced PS5 version of the game.

For now, anyone who hasn’t picked up the game yet can still get the game for $70 on PS5, which will include both the enhanced version of the FFVII Remake, as well as INTERmission—making it worth the $70 entry fee.
