FIFA Pro Kurt Targets Scump and FormaL
Former FIFA pro player Kurt0411 is no stranger to controversy, having sparked a massive outcry and hacking of one of the developers, Mr. Zaro, account following his ban from competitive FIFA late last year. Now Kurt is back in the spotlight, but not because of FIFA like you’d expect, but Call of Duty, where he’s sparked a beef with Scump and FormaL.
Is This a Crossover Episode?
The drama kicked off yesterday when Kurt decided to raid FormaL and Scump while they were streaming one of their scrims on Twitch, bringing 2,155 viewers with him into their channels.
With notifications turned off since they were focusing on the scrim, Neither player noticed the raid coming into their chat and failed to acknowledge it for a few minutes. This infuriated Kurt, who was expecting thanks of some sort from the two, leading to a tweet stating:
In other news never raiding another COD streamer ever again. Just because you’re lucky enough to be playing a game without delay doesn’t mean you shouldn’t acknowledge a raid triple your viewers. Fuck @scump and @FormaL
— Kurt (@Kurt0411Fifa) January 19, 2020
His followers quickly took up Kurt’s frustration and began spamming FormaL’s chat with Kurt’s alien emote and calling him ungrateful. For his part, FormaL did eventually thank Kurt once the scrim was over and even went to like his tweet, yet Kurt continued to fume over being what he saw as snubbed.
It didn’t stop there, however, as Kurt also began insulting Karma and attacking 100 Thieves’ content crew, The Mob, as he tried to roast their member Froste.
Choosy Beggars
The whole ordeal reeks of Kurt being a choosy beggar, and really doesn’t aid general community opinion of him following his very public fallout with FIFA’s developers. Especially as Kurt had nothing to do with the Call of Duty scene, FormaL, or Scump beforehand. First impressions are everything, and when your first interaction with a game’s community is attacking some of its biggest names, you’re not going to have a good time.
Personally, I understand why they weren’t able to focus on their streams: with less than a week to go until the Call of Duty League begins, the teams need to focus on perfecting their game plan and getting prepped for a strong, initial showing to start building a following. As a former pro player, even if it’s just FIFA, Kurt should know the importance of focusing on practice, even if it is being streamed.
The fact that he’s acting so childish makes me feel less pity for him getting banned by EA, and he should really do some internal reflection about how he reacts towards others before he acts in the future.
