The COVID-19 pandemic is sweeping the world right now in various ways, especially here in the United States. With a national emergency happening currently, businesses, events, and more are canceled as citizens are staying home to avoid further spread of the virus.

With the coronavirus causing many changes in the esports and gaming industries, events have been canceled to prevent any spread. However, some companies are doing their part to help with the coronavirus pandemic by providing support.

FaZe Fight 2 Fund Event Announced

FaZe Clan, a popular esports organization, is now doing its part to provide relief from the current coronavirus situation. To do that, FaZe announced that it is holding a fundraiser to provide relief for various communities impacted.

The FaZe Fight 2 Fund Call of Duty Warzone event will allow various streamers, content creators, and more to come together to raise some money towards relieving those affected by the global health emergency.

FaZe announced the FaZe Fight 2 Fund Warzone event on its official Twitter account. The event will go live today, Monday, March 16 and offer a competitive tournament where fans can watch some of their favorite players duke it out.

The FaZe Fight 2 Fund Warzone event will begin promptly at noon PT today and feature prominent gamers, streamers, athletes, music artists, and even some celebrities as they play against one another. The event will feature the recently released Warzone, a standalone battle royale experience in the series that also doubles as another game mode for Modern Warfare.

Fight 2 Fund Warzone Event Details

The Call of Duty Warzone Pro-AM tournament is in partnership between FaZe and UMG/Torque Esports. Fans interested in checking out all the action live should head to the FaZe Clan official Twitch channel as well as the UMG channel for everything as it happens later today.

Also, you can find all the action on the individual players’ streams as they compete in the event. The tournament will feature a bracket-style event that consists of popular content creators and some celebrities like Ben Simmons, Juju Smith-Schuster, and many more.

A total of 16 teams will compete in the event with three players on each team. This makes sense since Call of Duty Warzone is all about battle royale with teams of three each, much like how Apex Legends focuses on that set up as well.

There will be 48 players in total, including some of the most popular FaZe players as you might expect. These include Nickmercs, FaZe Apex, Temperrr, and some other players for the esports organization. Specific tournament matches haven’t been decided yet at this time.

Event Will Give Money to Coronavirus Relief

It is currently unknown whether the event will feature a points-based system for players to compete in or whether it will be all about how the teams do in specific matches. Regardless of which format the event goes for, fans will have the chance to watch the teams compete for some generous prize money for charities.

The winning team of the event will have the opportunity not necessarily to earn money for themselves but to select a local charity or organization directly related to coronavirus relief and have money donated to them. The community has raised funds, FaZe Clan, Call of Duty, and Softgiving.

The amount of money donated to charity is currently unknown at this time. Regardless, this is a remarkable event doing some good in this world during some troubling times. With so many live events and competitions canceled, it is good to see something happen in the community digitally, at least.

And it takes advantage of the recent launch of Call of Duty Warzone, a game that is only about a week old on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is the latest spin-off entry in the massive Call of Duty franchise and is both a standalone and side mode for the current latest mainline game Modern Warfare.

What Warzone Is All About

It has two game modes of its own: battle royale and Plunder. Presumably, the FaZe Fight 2 Fund Warzone event will feature the former for the competition as it makes the most sense for a tournament like this. It uses teams of three players each to compete in massive matches of around 150 players.

The map for the game is rather large, encompassing numerous different terrains, cities, and named locations. It is an interesting experience that has its unique features like the Gulag system that allows players to earn the right to a free respawn upon their first death by winning a one on one duel.

Then there is the Plunder mode, which we don’t expect to be the main game mode for the FaZe Fight 2 Fund Warzone event today. It is less focused on the battle royale experience and more on the cash feature of the game. The winning team must have the most money out of all the other teams.

Money can be earned by completing contracts like capturing a point, taking money from other teams, looting it, and more. It is a different style of game since it has respawns available. The FaZe Fight 2 Fund Warzone event will take advantage of the battle royale game later today at noon PT.
