$50,000 FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends Tournament Announced
Rumors about the demise of Apex Legends appear to have been greatly exaggerated, because the first major Apex Legends tournament series has been announced!
FACEIT is sponsoring the FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends tournament series, which features eight separate events (tournaments) and a $50,000 prize pool. The first event takes place on May 31st (this Friday) and there will an event each week until the final competition on July 26th.
Who Can We Expect to See?
16 teams, from major gaming organizations, are competing in this first ever officially-licensed Apex Legends tournament series. Also, the young talented Apex Legends prospect and popular Twitch streamer NRG Dizzy will be playing — so that should definitely help increase the viewership of this tournament series.

And it’s important to bring up viewership here, because if this Apex Legends tournament series garners enough interest/viewers, then Apex Legends could possibly get its own pro league in the future. Fortnite and PUBG are already making strong pushes to establish their esports scenes, so this is a good time for Apex Legends to show off it’s competitive potential as well.
Here are some of the teams that have been confirmed:
- 100 Thieves – Teenage, Lifted, and JP2.
- Cloud9 – Frexs, GregoFPS, and Overpowered.
- compLexity – Gabeismon, Reptar, and kyraig.
- dignitas – Mig_99, CrozzoR, and Shurimawizard.
- FNATIC– iShiny, Cornpops, and Muffinzz.
- Gen.G – Grimreality, dummy, and silkthread.
- MisfitsGG – Helping, Losido, and Moose.
- NRG – Dizzy, Ace, and Mohr.
- TSM – ImperialHal, ProdigyAces, and TTHump.
- T1– Kurt, BcJ, and ZerG.
- Immortals – Crust, Micah and Reyn.

- G2 Esports – TBA
The final two teams will come out of the FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends qualifier which starts today (May 29th) and runs until tomorrow (May 30th). This qualifier event features twenty teams that come from the Apex Pro Discord. Twenty matches will be played, and the top two teams with the most points will move on to the actual FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends tournament series.
What Can We Expect?
The popular Korean organization T1 has put together a fearsome Apex Legends team with talented players Kurt, BcJ, and ZerG. They’ve won almost every Apex Legends tournament they’ve participated in, including the previous T1 x FACEIT Invitational, so expect them to be the favorites going into this.
The official format for this tournament has not been revealed yet, but it’s known that a point system will be used to determine the winner of this eight-week long pro series. The team that scores the most points during a single event wins $5,000, and then the team that secures the most points throughout all eight events gets an additional $10,000.
Also, it is expected that a custom server will be used (since a standard Apex Legends match features 20 teams).
This tournament series has a unique setup that allows the participating teams to compete online, but at the same time, it will feature professional broadcasting from veteran CS:GO casters Daniel Kapadia and James Bardolph — they will be commentating out of the FACEIT studio in LA.
The FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends is shaping up to be an exciting contest and you can catch all the action starting on May 31st at 2pm PST/5pm EST on the official FACEIT Twitch channel.
