Epsilon Esports Shutdown, Sh1ro’s Berlin Woes – CS:GO Daily Recap 8/6/2019
Hey everyone, welcome back to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ve got a look at the rumored Epsilon Esports shutdown, and a look at some of the rising talent not going to the Major.
Today’s going to be a rather short day, so let’s dive on in.
Looming Epsilon Esports Shutdown?
Our top story today is the rumored pending Epsilon Esports shutdown.
According to a recent report from Vie.GG, the Manchester City-backed team is expected to cease operations after an 11-year run following rising costs in operation.
The report outlined that the team had been struggling to keep up with rising costs and an inability to keep up with better-funded teams in the scene.
The report also states that the team CEO Greg Champagne is planning to leave esports entirely.
Shortly after the article’s publication, the team created a post on Twitter asking what games the team should get into next.
Our very own Jake Lucky reached out to the team asking if they were indeed shutting down, and got a response of “that’s news to us.”
Upcomer also reached out to the company’s CEO, who insisted that the team was only going through a staff restructuring, and wasn’t, in fact, closing down. Continuing on to question why Vie would publish the piece.
We’ll keep you updated as the situation develops.
Gambit Youngsters’ Rising Star
Our last piece for the day is actually a bit rare for us to do, as we’re taking a look at one of the rising talents that didn’t make the Berlin Major.
While the young CIS player will have to sit at home while one of the biggest tournaments of the year goes on, 18-year old Sh1ro can at least hold his head high with the stat-line he’s put up so far in the region.
During yesterday’s CIS Pro Championship, Sh1ro dropped almost 50 frags across two maps against current world number 30 Avangar, and another 62 against unranked Pro100 in an equal number of maps.
Could Sh1ro be the next big Russian star of CS:GO? We’ll have to wait and see, but his career is already looking bright ahead of him.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. We’ll be back tomorrow with more CS:GO news, so stay tuned!
