Epic Games Upholds Jarvis Ban

The permanent ban of FaZe Clan’s content creator Jarvis from Fortnite has caused quite the stir online. Many in the industry have taken sides on whether the punishment was correct or too harsh on the young player, with the line dividing between those not associated with FaZe and those who are.

Now Epic Games itself has spoken out regarding the ban, and their response does not look good for Jarvis.

According to a spokesman for the developer, Jarvis will not be given any special treatment regarding his punishment and, in response to The Sun, stated, “We have a zero-tolerance policy for the usage of cheat software. When people use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly.”

The statement appears to indicate that the company will be keeping the perma-ban in place for Jarvis, though that hasn’t stopped the creator from making a profit off of the game as his ban video is estimated to have earned him £20,000 in revenue.

What the Community is Saying

As mentioned earlier, the community has been highly split on the controversial banning of Jarvis, and many have come out support Epic’s decision on the matter, with Team Liquid CEO Steve Arhancet in particular, stating that, “It’s disgusting to me that [Jarvis] want[s] to call yourself a pro player in Fortnite but then are using aimbots and cheating. How so incredibly unfair to all the folks [he] cheated out of a spot and flat out unethical, I’m so glad they are getting banned and Epic is cracking down.”

Over in the FaZe Clan camp, though, fans and staff have gathered around to defend Jarvis’ actions, claiming he didn’t understand the repercussions of his actions and that he should be given a second chance, with FaZe owner Banks remarking, “What Jarvis did was obviously stupid. It was a mistake and the point has been made very clear. Fortnite is a huge part of his life and I just don’t see the punishment (destroying a 17-year-old kid’s life) fitting of the crime. #FreeJarvis”

Given Epic’s position on the matter, it’s likely the words of the latter are going to fall on deaf ears, and this is probably the last we’ll see of Jarvis in Fortnite.

The question now is: What game will he end up in next?
