Epic Games Releases Fortnite Season 5
It is finally here! Epic Games has officially released Fortnite Season 5 today across all gaming platforms, and fans everywhere are flocking to their systems to play it. What can we expect from the new season? Here is a quick overview from what I noticed on day one of the season and the patch note release.
In the v5.0 patch notes released on Epic Games official website, Fortnite season 5 introduces the use of an all-terrain kart and rifts. The all-terrain kart fits up to four people and allows people a quicker way to travel to the circle if need be. While you are in the kart, you can drift, and it will give you a speed boost after drifting. The roof of the kart will also act as a bounce pad. The rifts will test your courage because once you walk through the rift, you are shot back up into the sky, and you will glide back down to the surface.
Also new to Fortnite season 5 are the unusual items that have appeared across the map. There are Viking ships, desert outposts, and ancient statues spread across the map. Certain spots from the previous season have been changed, as Anarchy Acres is now known as Lazy Links and Moisty Mire is now known as Paradise Palms. There is also a Viking stronghold with a waterfall between Greasy Grove and Snobby Shores.
There were three exciting tidbits that I took away that were mentioned in the patch notes about this new season. The first one was that the center of the storm circles 7, 8, and 9 can now shift in random directions instead of shrinking. The second note that I found intriguing is the progressive challenges. Starting in Fortnite Season 5, progressive challenges will no longer be restricted to a single season, and you can complete them at your own speed. Also, progressive challenges are now completed by acquiring a fixed amount of XP rather than season level. The final thing that I saw was that the weekly challenges are now split into two sections, free and battle pass.
If you are interested in purchasing the battle pass, it will remain the same price as it has in the past, requiring 950 v-bucks. Once again though the battle pass will pay for its self if you manage your v-bucks correctly since you’ll earn 1500 v-bucks over the course of the 100-tier battle pass. Also, the new skins, emotes, and the addition of toys makes this battle pass appealing for only 950 v-bucks. You can see every item available in the battle pass below in the photo gallery.
