EG’s Svenskeren Still Hasn’t Found a Team for 2022, Still Wants to Compete
Two-time LCS MVP Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen still hasn’t found a team for 2022 and will most likely be taking an involuntary “sabbatical.” While he might not be as dangerous and capable as in his prime, he’s still one of the most seasoned junglers in North America and would serve as a boon to any team that might pick him up.
Is he a bit too volatile at times? Absolutely, but that, too, can be handled and turned into a positive.
“I have not been able to find a team this offseason. I have been playing in the LCS since season three without missing a split and this will be the first time I won’t be starting. NA has been my home for the past six years and it’s sad to think that last summer might have been my last time playing there. I’m still very dedicated and I know that I’m still good enough,” said Svenskeren through Twitter. “I want to keep playing in NA as I love living and playing there. I’m currently in Denmark and open to all options in NA so I can continue to grow and develop in the region that feels like home.”
We wouldn’t be opposed to seeing him return to the LEC — far from it, in fact. By the looks of it, though, he’s intent on staying in North America so that’s not exactly a possibility at this current moment. Still, if no offer happens to come his way, he’ll probably explore all possible options.
A Pretty Mediocre Showing
Svenskeren didn’t really blow anyone’s mind the last time we saw him play. He had the absolute worst Kill Participation among his jungling peers (62.2%) which is quite telling; still, he was very solid individually with some truly respectable GD10 and XPD10 numbers. He didn’t exactly stick out like a sore thumb, but his own playstyle didn’t really mesh all that well with the rest of Evil Geniuses.
We’re talking about huge stylistic differences here, and they eventually became irreconcilable. Svenskeren never lacked for mechanics or game knowledge, but he just wasn’t on the same page with the rest of the team — at least not when it mattered most; be that as it may, he’s still a veteran worthy of starting in the LCS, and we hope that he’ll find a new team to call home in 2022.
