Dying Light 2 News Teased to be Coming This Week
Dying Light 2 seems to have been resurrected after its delay in 2020, forcing the game to have its release date pushed from 2020 to an undetermined one. As dying light has not been seen since E3 2019, the game’s current progress has been somewhat of a mystery. While COVID-19 impacted it as many games were last year, it seems like Techland will finally shed some light on Dying Light this Thursday.
Save the City
Posted on the official Dying Light Twitter page, a video was uploaded showing a wall during the day stating “Save the City” As the day turns to night, UV lights activate, illuminating the wall and revealing a new message: “Are you Dying 2 Know More?” followed by a date, Thursday, May 27th, noon EST. On this date, Techland is going to be showing off Dying Light again, as the only time before this, Techland had shown off Dying Light 2 at E3 2019. This Thursday is going to be a double feature of online broadcasts for fans, with the Sonic Central broadcast happening on the same day.

Dying Light 2 seems to be a massive upgrade from the previous game. With a focus more on the free-running mechanics in the first game. Dying Light 2 has opted to remove vehicles altogether, as they appeared in the expansion for the original game. Dying Light 2 has also opted to push the RPG limits further, as the game used to have a single story with a single ending. Now, Dying Light 2 puts the player at the forefront of the outcome of the many characters they meet along the way, aiming to make a choice a massive part of the experience. Techland mentioned how much of the game is based on choice stating that players who make specific choices might put themselves in a position to miss almost half the content the game has to offer. Techland wants agency to be at the forefront of Dying Light 2’s gameplay, as the open world is one-half of what Dying Light 2 wants to be. The game’s world itself has been scaled back, only having one single area, as dying light had 3, 2 for the main game, and one new one for the expansion.
However, Techland has not only fleshed out the story and choices and made the world feel more dense and real, but they’ve also managed to polish the combat system as well, making Dying Light 2 focus more on melee. In contrast, Dying Light 1 had characters become unstoppable when they picked up guns and enough ammo to carry around.
As the game has become more dense and packed, Techland had opted to delay the game in 2020, wanting to make the game as good as it can be, and while the sentiment is good-natured at heart, the idea of a delay has become a double-edged sword, with CyberPunk 2077 delaying three times before it’s release, and still arriving in players hands a buggy mess. However, Techland has only delayed their game once, and the E3 presentation made the game seem like a promising improvement to the previous title.
As for the new information coming for Dying Light, players are happy to hear that the game has left limbo and is going to be shown off once again on Thursday. Press received an email from Dying Light with the message, “Survivor, Remember Harran? Who could forget… But The City is our refuge now, and it needs your help. There’s so much for you to know, and so little time, but these clues can’t fall into the wrong hands. Find somewhere safe and play this message. You’re our last chance for survival. Above all… Stay Human.”
Dying Light 2’s broadcast will be coming on their Twitch channel on May 27th, at 12 pm EST/9 pm CEST.
