Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Returns, Starts at CEO 2019
Bandai Namco announced today that the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour is returning for the 2019 and 2020 season. In addition, it will be starting very soon with its first official competition beginning at CEO 2019. This is the second competitive season for the esports game, following a successful first season.
For those who don’t know, the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour is the global tournament series for the beloved anime fighting game. The second season of it will run from around eight or nine months, beginning near the end of this month and lasting until early 2020.
The World Tour Grand Finals
Professional players from around the world will have the chance to compete in various competitions to determine who will have one of the few spots at the Red Bull Finals in France. It is there at the grand finals that players will battle it out to find out who the Grand Champion will be.
Last year’s Dragon Ball Fighterz World Tour Grand Finals are well worth a watch if you haven’t already seen them
Unfortunately, there will only be 16 players that will have the chance to compete in the grand finals. These will be the top 16 players from around the world who compete in the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour’s second season. As for qualifying in the grand finals, there are several ways to do this.
The top 16 players will be selected from among the winner takes all Saga events, by using the points collected across the World Tour, and through the Last Chance Qualifier. The first three of these spots will be given out to the winner of the three Saga events that occur during the season.
The first Saga event will be at EVO 2019 later this summer. The winner of the tournament there in Las Vegas, Nevada will have a guaranteed spot at the grand finals. In addition, there will be two more Saga events: the Red Bull Saga Spain and Red Bull Saga Japan where those two winners will also have a spot.

That makes the first three spots in the Grand Finals. 12 more spots will be given out to the top 12 players with the most points by the end of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour. Players will have the chance to gain points during the season at the various Saga and Tenkaichi events.
So, even if a player isn’t able to win a Saga event, they still have a chance to make it to the Grand Finals as long as they participate and do well in as many events as possible. The Tenkaichi events will be offline competitions around the globe during the season.
The first of the Tenkaichi events will be happening very soon, kicking off this second season of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour. It will take place at the CEO 2019 in Florida at the end of this month. Players who compete in that event and other ones will gain points to climb in the rankings for the season.
With the 12 additional spots that will be given out to the top points earners, that makes 15 of the top 16 players. That leaves one final spot that will be handed out to the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier. This competition will be occurring the day before the Grand Final tournament in France.
The Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour 2019 and 2020 season will be the second season following the inaugural season and championship that happened earlier this year. The champion was determined at the grand finals Los Angeles, California at the beginning of this year.
Interestingly enough, the current Grand Champion Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue started his competitive streak by winning CEO last year before winning three more tournaments during the season. As such, all eyes will be on CEO 2019 as the results there could be a determination of how this second season will go.
Community Effort Orlando 2019 will take place at the end of this month from June 28 through June 30, 2019. For more info and updates on the latest DBFZ news, remember to stay tuned to our Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
